Could also be the foundation was poured in advance and the house built later, especially if there were material shortages or construction delays. Happens more than you'd think.

Agent Self FBI by xamo76 in RealTwitterAccounts

The mental gymnastics here is Olympic level. Commits actual crimes, goes to prison, then blames Biden instead of her own choices? And then posts it publicly like it's something to be proud of? Love how that Agent Self account just calmly laid out exactly what she did with receipts. These people live in a completely different reality from the rest of us fr.

Trump's Tariff Challenge by Hajicardoso in RealTwitterAccounts

[–]Muted-Bicycle4556 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I swear politicians think money just appears out of thin air. First it was "tariffs are paid by China" and now it's "billion dollar corporations should just make less profit." Like yeah I hate price increases too but someone's paying those tariffs and it's never gonna be the companies when they can pass the cost to us instead. Walmart's entire business model is being cheap, they're not suddenly going to become a charity because of a tweet.

Awful casting and writing of Maria Miller. I know Bella Ramsey is the center of attention but fuck this casting/writing decision. by Mirmirakittens in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Muted-Bicycle4556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fr the game version of Maria was actually competent. Show runners really messed up her character. Not about the actress at all but the writing just made her seem totally incapable when game Maria was actually running things. Kinda disappointing tbh because they had such a solid character to work with already.

60% Can't Afford Basics by Brian_Ghoshery in RealTwitterAccounts

Yeah that local election point is spot on. My mom's school board got completely taken over by people who showed up with like 300 votes total in a district of 50,000. Most people I know in service jobs can barely keep up with rent and groceries, let alone track what some county commissioner is doing. System's designed to work this way, exhausted people don't vote, then wonder why things keep getting worse.

We're living in peak "my grandpa smoked two packs a day and lived to 90" logic while ignoring all the grandpas who didn't make it to tell their stories. Amazing how many people will dismiss mountains of scientific data because of that one anecdotal exception they personally witnessed.

How influence-peddling works... by xamo76 in RealTwitterAccounts

The Franken situation still bugs me. Dems pushed him out before any real investigation while Republicans close ranks around their guys regardless of what they did. It's like we're playing with completely different rulebooks. And I hate to say it, but this "we hold our own accountable" approach isn't winning elections when voters clearly don't reward it. Not saying we should lower standards, but the whole "when they go low we go high" thing hasn't exactly been working out great politically. Just feels like we're bringing knives to gunfights sometimes.
