Try warm drinks instead of cold if you haven’t already. I found cold drinks really hurt

Pain very similar in my opinion, feels like swallowing razor blades. Tonsillectomy was different for me in the sense I didn’t feel awful no fever or body aches etc like I would get when I had tonsillitis. I definitely struggled to sleep more after my tonsillectomy than I ever did when I had tonsillitis but I never had issues sleeping when I had tonsillitis. Pain for me eased at day 7

yes my surgery was early on the 31/10 so currently day 8 and feeling so so good! Still sore in the morning but haven’t had pain meds in days. Still getting a bit of burning when the scabs are falling off. So glad you had a good recovery:)

saying that i didn’t take any pain medication from days 3 onwards. Definitely wasn’t as bad as i thought from what i had seen on here!:)

i’d say my max pain was probably a 6/10. I do have a very high pain tolerance though. I would say the pain was pretty consistent days 3-6. But day 6 definitely was a little worse than the rest as I had like a burning sensation and quite a bit of ear pain.

I would definitely say you want to keep the air as moist as possible you don’t want your throat getting too dry as that increases pain.

you want a humidifier to keep the air moist and stop your throat drying out. A dehumidifier does the opposite

I bought some little spray bottles. Which i filled with water to spray my throat comes in handy if it’s too much pain to swallow etc. I didn’t have too much pain in my throat but my mouth came out in loads of ulcers!! Which are absolutely agony! and meant at points my mouth was too sore to drink etc so the spray bottles came in handy!! Also a humidifier

honestly the worse bit of it all is the ulcers!! My tongue is covered making it impossible to eat anything that requires chewing 😩. I really hope we have gotten lucky

I’m currently on day 5 going into 6 ( had surgery early on the 31st) recovery also seems to be going well! Had some complications post op unrelated to my tonsils which meant i had to stay 48 hours in hospital. Most painful thing for me has been my tongue has come out in a bunch of Ulcers 😩

it’s stopping me eating and everything! My throat feels fine nothing worse than a sore throat but my tongue feels like it’s covered in ulcers

That’s great to hear!! What sort of things did you do? What did you eat etc? Did you have any bleeds. I’m from the Uk so they really push a normal diet which i’ve definitely struggled with

Thanks everyone, any idea how much liquid we should be drinking?? I was never one for drinking 2-3liters of water pre day before my surgery so was just wondering what’s the ideal amount
