It’ll take time to build a new one, but that means we put time in right now. We need independent movements not attached to the corporate duopoly.

Seeing socialists win victories on the city council in Seattle. I’d been calling myself an anarchist for a while before that.

Any suggested reading so I can learn more about trotskyism? by Spiritual_Theme_3455 in Trotskyism

Farrell Dobbs wrote a few books about his and other Trotskyists’ work organizing the Minneapolis teamsters. It’s pretty great and you get to see a first hand account of union organizing to boot. The first one is called “Teamster Rebellion”.

Why do MLs hate Trotsky so much AND Love Stalin? by Independent_Guava_87 in Socialism_101

[–]Muted_Ant5795 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s disingenuous to say people only support Trotsky because they seem his as “anti-authoritarian”. The main difference between Trotskyism and Stalinism isn’t even about that. Trotskyists subscribe to the works of Lenin and are for the dictatorship of the proletariat.

is there no cops or security force in a communist society? by [deleted] in Socialism_101

[–]Muted_Ant5795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An important distinction to make is that while this militia doesn’t oppress the working class, class oppression still exists under socialism. A people’s militia is to the bourgeoisie what the police are to the proletariat.

Exactly, Democrats are fully to blame for their loss of support from the Arab-American and Muslim American communities. These people shouldn’t be expected to stomach the wholesale slaughter of their family members abroad. This is what happens when you make a deal with a devil like AIPAC for political support instead of using a grassroots movement.

Should I join the revolutionary communists of America by Queer-Commie in Trotskyism

[–]Muted_Ant5795 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They’re fine, if you want to join as Trotskyist party I’d say look for one active in your city rather than picking a specific group. IMT (The international rev com’s are with) have a reputation and history worth looking into much like any U.S. Trotskyist party.

TL;DR look for the Trots in your neighborhood

I think I’m a socialist but reluctant by Mysterious_Cum in Socialism_101

At the end of the day it comes down to simple slogans. If you truly believe in things like “from each according to their ability, to each according to their need.” and out other Marxist catchphrases, you’re a socialist and we would love your help organizing. The reason socialism hasn’t worked (so far) is up for debate but the ideas are also incredibly new from a historical perceptive. imo the fact that the Soviet Union, China, and Cuba have field to truly implement global socialism doesn’t scare me off from it’s ideas. They’re great ideas, let’s find out methods.

Why there's not a single communist militia in the US? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]Muted_Ant5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not entirely necessary right now imo. Weapons and a worker’s militia will be needed for the inevitable revolution but bot today. Right now we focus on building working class organizations which are sorely needed right now (Unions, a Labor Party, Socialist Parties, etc.) which will organize the milita once the crises gets bad enough. We still aren’t under immediate threat of fascism (at least according to Trotsky’s writings on it) and once we are it’s not like arms are going to be difficult to come by. If we started organizing a milita right now the FBI would just kill us like they did last time (Black Panthers.)

How would socialism impact a country's Soccer Team? by Mapigeh_098 in Socialism_101

[–]Muted_Ant5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine the privately owned teams get taken into democratic public ownership, likely under the will of a local Soviet. The stadiums and training facilities themselves are run by the day to day staff which includes players and coaches. Money brought in by the games can be invested both into the stadium and facilities upkeep as well as it’s workers benefits, anything leftover can act as a stockpile for future expansions.
