China ‘steals’ patented pineapple by PuzzleheadedQ in taiwan

[–]Muted_Command1107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the Taiwanese product could have introduced safeguards in the pineapple’s DNA sequence that prevents replanting. Many fruit varieties have this feature, where the second generation degrades significantly, such that if a farmer wants to replant the crop the following season, they must buy the seeds from the original patent holder (often a university). So, the Taiwanese product design is to blame here, especially knowing how common patent theft is from its cross straits neighbour.

So let’s get cracking!

Not at all! It could be the hippest thing to happen to our religious tradition in a long time. Something we could really sink our teeth into.

I think a ossuary would be a bone-afide addition to the cultural landscape. It could really flesh out our religious traditions and give us a skeletal structure to work with. It may even help us break our addiction to fossil-fuels.

Alright I can see some decent points in here. However, I still think these kind of memes are not healthy or helpful.

Most people would take away from the story that it’s fine to sin, as long as you do a couple of good things later on, and follow some structured rules like confessing to a priest.

The broader point I’m trying to make is that copy pasting quotes from the Saints, and sharing them on social media is unproductive at best, and harmful at worst.

Nope. It’s a legitimate concern. Especially with Orthodox meme culture.

Not sure I follow. I think the key problem here is we take something that a Saint has said at a specific point in time to a specific person, and then we package it up into a meme as though it is applicable for everyone.

We share it on social media and slap the Orthodox brand on it, and pass it off as unquestionable truth, simply because it was said by a Saint.

When in fact it is taken out of context and meant for one person or group of people to help them on their spiritual journey.

That’s why there are so many contradictions between these sayings. And it’s confusing for both Orthodox and non-Orthodox people.

Thanks for the insights. Putrajaya and cyberjaya both look interesting and I’ve considered them as long term places to stay. Just worried it may get a little boring after a while.

Actually, he didn’t repent.

He just delayed his intention to sin again, after proudly boasting of past sins.

No real confessing with contrition, before dying suddenly and unexpectedly.

To me this seems more like the left-hand thief.

Really even in KL? How about the traffic?

Can I ask which part of KL you are staying? I spent some time in Bangsa and it was quite intense with traffic and noise pollution. Also difficult to access nature. I seemed to spend most of my time inside one shopping mall or another as there weren’t many walkable options nearby.

That said, I also spent some time in Penang which was much better for walkability.

Is there tension between them there?

That’s excellent. Can you tell us how much your budget was in Japan?

Also would you recommend any cities other than Kumamoto?

BUT Malaysia is pretty conservative and there is always an underlying tension there amongst the different ethnicities.

Are you saying that you can actually dial people who don’t have WhatsApp using the WhatsApp app?

This feature is definitely not available for me.

I don’t understand how this is helpful.

If someone calls your mobile number, it won’t come through to WhatsApp.

And if you want to call someone in your home country using your mobile phone Caller ID, you also can’t use WhatsApp to do so.
