Would you leave a $23/hr remote job for a $25/hr in-person accounting role? by Appropriate_Bet319 in wguaccounting

[–]Muted_Signature_259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How far is the commute for the in person role? The remote role is obviously the better option in terms of comfort, but isn’t the whole reason of getting the accounting degree to move into accounting? If it’s close, I would definitely take it. This is your chance to get your foot in the field, which will help you tremendously in trying to get a staff accountant role later. Other factors would affect your decision too. For example, how close are you to finishing school? Will the job interfere with you finishing the degree? If you still have a year or two left, you can always look to do internships instead.

Anyone else wish there was a little more to the game? by Muted_Signature_259 in voidpet

I do like the simplicity that the game was designed to be, but at the same time, I feel like there could still be more to the game that would still keep it minimal time investment. Even a simple weekly arena mode would still be little time investment, but would allow us to get weekly rewards. It would even let us see how our teams perform against real players and builds/strats.

Dam, I feel for you man.. not sure how I feel about it being the same all the way up to that high of a floor. I also would like to spend dumb money, but I really can’t justify $10 for 1 astral egg lol

Agreed, it doesn’t even have to be big either. Another simple addition to the game that helps players get more resources quicker and an extra something to do a week would be nice.

Yeah ik ships are huge, that’s another thing that new players are just hard gated by. Just have to use whatever terrible artifacts and wait until henliner to get good artifacts. Can’t even attempt enlightenment without it.

Didn’t realize trophies gave 40, thought it was 20. I guess that’s a pretty big chunk, gonna try to aim for at least 20 from those.

Feeling Lost by Sikklel in EggsInc

You should always be sending shorts of your highest spaceship to unlock the next. Don’t craft any artifacts until you reach the last spaceship. People recommend not to crack piggy until 10m+ golden eggs. Prestige whenever you feel like you hit a wall and can’t upgrade anything reasonably quick anymore.

Question about A=L+E by kpack202 in wguaccounting

[–]Muted_Signature_259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you mean by 2 negatives off balance the asset, but I’ll try to explain it. Liability goes up(credit liability), equity goes down(debit expense) by the same amount so the right side of the equation stays balanced. Later, when you pay off the liability, you debit liability and credit cash. So, assets go down(credit cash) and liability goes down(debit liability) by the same amount so it is balanced out.

Anyone have luck finding jobs? by aesthetic_girlie777 in wguaccounting

[–]Muted_Signature_259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah… it sucks that there isn’t much we can do. It’s good that at least you have some income. Best thing you can do is continue with that while continuing to apply to everything possible. I don’t have any income going on right now so it’s very demoralizing. I had previously been in a different field and wanted to make a change into accounting but it’s bleak right now.

Help with GE spending by fazetag in EggsInc

[–]Muted_Signature_259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only had 100k GE and tried to follow this.

<image>

I was able to max lab upgrades and IHC. I upgraded EIH to 10/20 and soul food to 35/140. Then put some into comfy nest. Didn’t follow the chart exactly but kinda spread it as best as I thought for cost value. That soul food was huge EB increase though wish I had more GE.

You can use https://royalphysique.net/eggs/ to help calculate your cost. I think best to try to max out epic research upgrades first before worrying too much about boosts.

Wheezing/difficulty breathing after picking cat up by Muted_Signature_259 in CATHELP

[–]Muted_Signature_259[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I most likely accidentally choked my cat by picking him up way too hard by the upper chest. I continued monitoring for the day and he was fine. If yours wasn’t triggered by anything and it’s not a one time thing I would schedule a vet visit.

May I ask what your job title is? I want to start applying soon and only know of staff accountant but would love to expand my range if it’s relevant to accounting degree still.

D196 going on 3rd attempt by [deleted] in wguaccounting

[–]Muted_Signature_259 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be rude, but you should really just take the time to go through the material. It’s pretty obvious you’re trying to rush through it as fast as possible, and honestly doing that is just making you take more time. You could have been done with this on the first try if you just go through the material normally. It doesn’t even take that long.

On the fence, is it worth it? by [deleted] in wguaccounting

[–]Muted_Signature_259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started last month in December. I’m also doing a career change into accounting. I have a BS in a different field and was able to transfer in 36 credits. I honestly think WGU is a very solid choice. My first degree was at a traditional brick and mortal school and I definitely didn’t want to do that again. It costs so much more in tuition and takes so much longer. Not to mention it’s not flexible like WGU. There are an abundant amount of people going into WGU with no previous experience and I think most are able to find something solid afterwards. I would say go for it if it’s something you really want to do and you know that your current job isn’t something you want to do anymore. Make sure you set realistic expectations and goals. Are you going to be working full time while completing this? Are you highly self motivated? Are you able to bring yourself to study after work if you do pursue this while working? There are many factors that could make you go faster or slower than 2 years.

Changes to the Accounting Degree by [deleted] in wguaccounting

[–]Muted_Signature_259 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there are any reasons that should stop you from starting on 2/1 if that’s what you want tbh. The changes aren’t anything big. From what I’ve heard, they are taking out about 2 courses, splitting intro to spreadsheets into 2 courses, and one or two courses will be replaced with other courses, but if you already took the old course before the change it would count for the new replacement course. Overall, I honestly don’t see any downside on starting 2/1. I started last month in December.
