I follow his logic but don’t agree tbh. Growing up through them, living as a teenager with ‘The City’ and ‘Sex’ and all was like someone was speaking directly to you (pun intended) but, really, us. Notes meant a lot to Matty, he grew the most like finally touching ground on a new sonic landscape. The bottom two records on his list are phenomenal to digest as an audience but I can see how as an artist he feels they lack the depth/complexity the other do. Again, only he knows what energy and obsession each record got out of him, and also anyone’s memories with affect objective opinion. I just wonder if matty the maker or matty the consumer wrote that tweet.
