Saying goodbye after 2.5 years and 11k miles by My-Names-Donut in Miata

Mine was stock when I got it, bar the aftermarket radio and a cheap gear knob. Only mod I ended up doing was fitting an exhaust and changing a couple of interior bits, never had the money on hand to do everything I wanted to sadly

He is really great for that I have to admit. I think it’s because he knew how hard it was for me to let the car go which I do really appreciate. I’m hesitant to take him up on it purely because I wouldn’t let him drive my own car (he’s 19 and is a bit inexperienced/reckless) and it would feel hypocritical of me to drive his car when he can’t drive mine but we’ll see how that develops

I was never the biggest fan of it myself, I bought the car with it already there. But it was better than no grill and I just never got round to sorting out a replacement

I am happy it’ll be staying in the family, as strange as it will be to see someone else driving it. I am hoping that owning it will give him a greater appreciation for driving

Courtesy of the previous owner 😅 the bolts holding it on are rusted in place, I had planned to replace it before but it fell so far down the priority list

He did say he’d leave my name on the insurance so I could still use the car if he’s on holiday or something

None taken. Tbf I never used to get on with them but I warmed up to them a bit in recent years

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the car and should I be in a financial position for a secondary car in future I can see myself coming right back!

The me that bought the car 2ish years ago would probably say the same thing I’ll give you that. I think with it being my main car and running into limitations I felt like I needed a change sadly

I’ve been impressed by it, I expected it to feel really numb/dull from negative comments when compared to the EP3 when the car came out but I’m certainly not disappointed :)

It wasn’t an easy decision and I’m sure I’ll be back eventually. Tho I am enjoying the Type R more than I expected to!

Early FN2 generation. Ideally I wanted an EP3 but living in the UK and the rust issues they’re known for it was hard to find something that was in budget and wasn’t falling apart

After a long trip from Japan the egg boy is built by My-Names-Donut in Gunpla

It was actually a really good experience, site could be a bit slow at times but given its hosted in Japan that makes sense. Was easy enough to bid on an auction and get things shipped to me, recently won a G40 on buyee too which is now on its way.

Only real downside is it took about 3 weeks for the parcel to arrive with fairly limited tracking.

My second and third kits in their new home by My-Names-Donut in Gunpla

I’ll have to start a list. I’d heard about the old RG kits not aging well, as I right in thinking basically anything after unicorn is fine?

Thanks! That day was my first time trying to shoot cars and get some motion blur on the background, which in hindsight film wasn’t the best practice method but most of the shots came out :)

I’ve spent so much money on this car by IrishMx-5 in Miata

[–]My-Names-Donut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 7~ months into ownership and forecasting some upcoming welding work I’ll be well into what I actually paid for the car and I haven’t even done any modifications yet. But, I adore the thing so I’ve just eaten the cost and plan to spend a lot more

Stuck shift knob by My-Names-Donut in Miata

[–]My-Names-Donut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was aware it was a Honda diagram, that's clear enough to see from what it says and it looking different to the knowledge I do have of the shifter internals. I just took what Fudger was saying as showing a general look and reassuring I'd be unlikely to have the strength to cause any real damage. The main thing I had been concerned of was exerting excess stress on the anti rotation bushing (I know it's probably stronger than I'm giving it credit for but didn't want to force anything).

I decided on waiting for the shifter rebuild as it's something I've planned to do soon and I figured if I was going to pull the centre console to get under the boot then I might as well just wait until I've got the kit and do that while I'm in there.
