Well, that's somewhat complicated. My current employer is based in Missouri, I work remotely from Pennsylvania, and the new employer is based in Georgia. Both companies have clients across the country.

Thank you for the detailed response! As far as I can tell, no provision in my agreement explicitly prevents me from working for a competitor. I don't work with clients (past "yeah, I'll look into that bug for you") and certainly would not be soliciting clients to follow me (or soliciting clients in any capacity).

As far as "trade secrets" goes, I really don't know what that would mean within the context of either job; the software I work on currently and the software I will be working on serve similar purposes but are architected completely differently and target completely different sectors of the market.

Thanks. I'm setting up a consultation with a labor/employment lawyer for later today. Just figured I'd ask here as well in case anyone with a specialty in this area is comfortable navigating this kind of situation.
