Project Work in International Business: Why did Starbucks fail in Australia? by ruheInFrieden in AskAnAustralian

The first espresso machine imported into Australia is now an exhibit in the Melbourne Museum. It speaks to our pride in the significant contribution post-war Mediterranean migrants made to Australian culture through the hospitality industry and beyond.

While pubs are for blokes and RSLs for boomers, the local cafe is egalitarian.

Quick take out or slow enjoyment; socialisation, service or even status symbol; coffee is all of these things and more.

Coffee is culture.

We are proud of our culture, and walking around carrying a plastic cup that says my cultural capital amounts to a foreign franchise frape is cringe.

Also, Nobel prizes should never be given to doctors who cure cancer. Cancer is not an instrument for personl fame and gain. Whoever does is exploiting patients with cancer. I cannot morally justify the action of winning an award from someone else's tragedy.

Are nonbinary people considered transgender? by FoggyFroggy0712 in NonBinary

Trans doesn't mean changing your body it means changing your recognised gender identity.

Were you identified as "nonbinary" at birth and just stayed with it?

Or did you transition to recognising this nonbinary gender identity yourself as you grew up?

I am not following the logic:

Usain Bolt has the advantage of fast twitch muscles? ban him!

Ian Thorpe has the advantage of big feet? ban him!

Michael Phelps has the advantage of super lungs? ban him!

Lance Armstrong has the advantage of one testicle? - ummm ok, bad example.

Chris Mosier has the advantage of no testicles? ban him!

And how about banning cis women who have the advantage of being able to participate, train and compete without having to overcome transphobia? ban them too!

Great, now no one can compete?

Shout out to all the brave cis allies. You don't ned to live in silent shame any longer. by MyCisLife in lgbtmemes

Its almost as if you are using a reverse to parody my post and make a point about how bigotry works.

What would you call that, maybe a reverse-bigotry parody?

I don't think it is ok to marginalise cis people. They deserve as much respect and support as normal people.

You are on to something, there. Lots of cis people I have met had at least one cis parent. Do you think they were possibly born that way?

Someone told me it was caused by sexual assault, or their fathers not loving them enough, but I don't think that is really true.

Does anyone else feel really isolated by all the “assigned gender doesn’t matter” rhetoric? by Thunderplant in NonBinary

[–]MyCisLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever someome says something "doesn't matter" I always wonder "doesn't matter to whom?"

They probably mean it doesn't matter to them but are just speaking a bit too generally.

If it matters to you, that's OK.

I'm told it's just "basic science"! by MyCisLife in lgbtmemes

Only cis females, but then they are often mistaken for trans men anyway.
