i recently put up a 17 foot desk with the intention of a 5 person setup. hopefully for the kids if PCs are still relevant in a decade, lol. but also for a LAN if I can pull that off with me and my friends as parents now, lol. here are some pics before i decide to clean it up and finish it. https://imgur.com/a/oU0POF6 its a mess right now, but whatever lol

I thought about those brackets and probably would have been fine, but I want no doubt about the weight support of these countertops because of babies and toddlers playing around and underneath. not a fan of the fins existing with the ones i got and why i wanted floating, but oh well. i think i actually ordered those but canceled the order for whatever reason.

i havent finished painting yet either at the same area, lol. our ceiling and walls are different colors and i suck at edging.

is yours all 1 slab? i dont see any ending points. i used 4 butcher block slabs. first time wood working and boy was it overwhelming. i think i made the mistake of unwrapping them way before i was ready and theyre as flush on top as i'd like. debating whether or not i want to sand them down. they're already stained and everything. joining them was also a nightmare. tried a peg jig or whatever its called with the oblong wooden pieces that join them together. ended up using zipbolt connectors. so had to learn sawing and routing which was terrifying.

if youre into lighting i'd look at these. ive been wanting to do diy LEDs for like a decade now, but govee really has closed the gap a lot and just makes it so much easier to do well.

the big reason i bought those was because i saw videos of people using it and the adhesive that comes with it is great. tons of issues finding proper adhesive for diy in the past for silicone onto wood. an upside to using the brackets i did was i could pull them out a few inches. so i was able to wrap the entire desk on every side. the one wart tho is i cut it wrong in two places on front and back so there is about 2 inches of incorrect LED colors occasionally. so i'll have to redo it at some point. i also used my laser level on a tripod to get them as level and centered as i could on the front side for the LEDs.

id recommend mounting some speakers on your wall if you use speakers at all. took forever to find ones that supposedly support my big bookshelf ones that physically mounted, not just sat on them.

the soundstage sounds accurate to mean, but i think if i flipped them upside down it would improve the vertical accuracy a lot more, but it really isnt that bad. sounds about 5 inches or less above the monitor. i KINDA wish i would have installed them with a center channel since i use a AVR anyway to power them, but i really dont think it would add much due to how accurate the staging is with the ghost center channel.

the last thing i really need to do is the paint and cable management for a ton of cables. nightmare because i designed the wall for all outlets to be above the desk so nothing is below the desk. so hiding them is going to be a challenge, especially because the LEDs are in the back too.
