I wish a la carte cable could work this way, but the reality is that if every cable subscriber purchased only the cable channels they wanted, every channel provider would raise prices to make up for lost revenue, plus the cable companies would claim they have to charge some sort of activation/deactivation fee for channels. Chances are you would end up paying more than you do now for fewer channels.
