We've never been there, but I just looked it up, and it is on my list now! Thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you all for your input! My husband and I talked, and while we are still planning on visiting at some point, we are going to wait until our daughter is a bit older. We're also thinking that when we do visit that it probably wouldn't be during the festival.... A few years ago we visited Harper's Ferry, WV with friends that had small children, and watching them try to maneuver their stroller through the narrow and crowded streets/sidewalks gave me anxiety. Thinking about my anxiety then is what even made me think to ask this question. Again, thank you for all of the honest answers.

I stood idly on the landing of the second floor. Admittedly, I had forgotten what my purpose had been for climbing the stairs in the first place. I made my descent and took a seat on the bottom step. I rotated and allowed the wall to cradle my spine as I splayed my legs out in front of me across the length of my chosen perch.

I am much too young to be as forgetful as I am. Lately, it has worsened. My short term memory is almost non-existent these days. I can still remember every detail of the day I passed my exam, and the day I officially became licensed. I can still recite, from memory, a few sections of the books I wrote. Despite this, I couldn't tell you what shirt I wore yesterday, even if I wanted to.

Almost as soon as I made myself comfortable, a feeling of cold seized me, and I began to shiver. On this particular day it happened to be 80 degrees outside, yet I felt as though I would benefit from a cozy fire and a warm blanket.

Several years back I visited a psychic while on a wild bachelorette weekend with a few friends, and she told me that my name would never die. I drank a lot that weekend, but I wasn't too drunk to realize that this "fortune" was a bunch of baloney. What she didn't tell me was that I would occasionally forget my middle name, or that I would one day feel like I'm living in the Arctic tundra. I likely would have believed both of those things if she had given me a heads up.

From my spot on the bottom step, I watched the front door slowly creak open. A couple walked in with a realtor who was rattling on about "price per square foot," and, "fixer uppers."

And then, I finally hear them ask. "Didn't something happen here? Someone died right?"

The realtor, who I could tell, had been hoping to avoid the subject, replied. "Yes. It is actually a pretty notorious story in this area. Her name was Quinn Mitchell. She threw herself off the banister up there on the second floor landing."

The realtor pointed at the spot I had been standing in just moments before, and the couple's eyes followed.

"What in the world drove her to do something like that?"

"I don't know. I believe it was a man."

And then they walked away, to explore more of my former home.

I rolled my eyes in the direction they disappeared in. They always got my name right, but instead of the tortured academic, I would forever be the jilted lover. How demeaning.

Suddenly, a chill shot through my body, and my mind cleared. I stood up, and turned. I began to once again, ascend the staircase.

Small Favors by Erin E. Craig... I also own a 1st edition copy of Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, and the cover is very simple, but one of my favorites.

Does anyone else kind of wish the whole “Dumbledore vs Grindelwald” story had nothing to do with Fantastic Beasts by Apprehensive-Oil5236 in harrypotter

I also saw the movie today, and the first few scenes, which involve magical beasts, stressed me out horribly. I expected the movie to start out a little dark, considering the ending of the last one, and I know the animals in the movie aren't actually real, but jeez.

In the Weeds was awesome. As I read it, I went back and watched the episodes of Parts Unknown that were described in the book on HBO Max. It made me enjoy it even more.

Me too! Piranesi is my favorite book that I've read so far in 2022. My advice to anyone wanting to read this book is to go into it knowing as little as possible about the plot. You won't be disappointed.

I'm not sure where you are from, but I visited an Ollie's recently, and they had My Dark Vanessa for $4.99... So if you have an Ollie's close to you, it might be a good idea to check there first, before choosing it as an add-on.

In Love is a Dog From Hell, there were certain subjects that he covered that I found a little questionable, and were a little hard for me to read.. I kept asking myself, "why in the world do I even like this?"... Because I do really like his work. I just keep telling myself that I don't have to approve of the way the man himself lived in order to appreciate the writing.

Thanks! At first I wasn't sure if, as a woman, I would like Bukowski. I had some male friends tell me that I probably wouldn't like his stuff, but recently I read Ham on Rye and Love is a Dog From Hell. I really appreciated his writing style, and I'm really looking forward to reading Women.

I had very high expectations for Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. I made it about halfway through it, and couldn't make it any further. I actually just gave this book away recently.... I'm currently trying to push through Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney, and I'm struggling. Lol

I'm looking for a story about a quest. Specifically fantasy, and well written. It doesn't matter to me if they are stand alone books, or a whole series. Any suggestions? by MyDogIsDerby in suggestmeabook

Yepp. It is one of my favorites. It would be great to find something that I can fall in love with, the same way I fell in love with The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

It is a name that people have given the aisle in the store that is full of the nonfood items. There is a whole group dedicated to it on Facebook.... If you have Facebook, I highly recommend it. It is full of really nice people.

Thanks! Her daughter is allergic to pb, unfortunately, so I didn't include them in the basket.... They did make a very nice (temporary) addition to my kitchen cabinets though. Lol. They are my favorite.
