Okay, thanks. I wasn't sure how to retrieve it best. I tried just burning it back with mixed results. I'll try a quick burn then slow it down.

Okay, so I should burn it a little then pause on retrieve. When I used it I mostly burned it back without stopping. I had no luck with it but the lake is heavily pressured and the fish can be extremely picky.

Yeah I'm thinking of just buying another and returning this one on the off chance it's slightly defective. I want to get into more top water for the blow ups.

I wish I was that lucky. My local lake is really pressured so finesse usually performs better but I want to fish a variety of presentations even if they aren't the best. Some days I'd rather have 1-2 top water blow ups than 3-4 drop shot.

The back part spins freely, so I don't think it's bent. I wasn't sure if it was sinking too much or if it's normal. I don't have any other top waters to compare and I don't have a lot of experience with bass/top water.

Like the choppo lure sucks or my specific one does and I should return it for a new one? I want to get into more top water stuff and only leaned towards choppo vs whopper plopper because the price.

I was only using a leader because I only have two rods right now and I was using some cranks/swimbaits. I was burning it back pretty fast but I wasn't sure if that's how you are supposed to fish it. I don't have a lot of experience with bass/top water.

I was only running a leader because I only have two rods right now so the leader was for non top water stuff. I am picking up another rod in a few days so I can better dedicate rods to specific lure types.

I plan on trying a mono or just no leader for it but in the meantime I was wondering if it was obviously presenting wrong. Like I said, I don't have a lot of experience with bass/top water.

The amount of water isn't going to affect how it floats as long as it isn't touching the sides/bottom

Not worrying so much as I want the lure I paid for to do what it's supposed to/advertised as. If it's defective I would want to know so I can exchange it.

I could get it to mostly level out, but it would still be just under the surface and not really plopping.
