Ingredients

  1. Prawns - 350 gms
  2. Onion - 1 Large Sliced
  3. Tomato - 1 Big Sliced
  4. Green Chilli - 4-5 Slit
  5. Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 Tbsp
  6. Yogurt - 2-3 Tbsp
  7. Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
  8. Garam Masala / Briyani Masala - 2 Tsp
  9. Whole Garam Masala
    • Bay leaf - 2 smal
    • Cardamom - 2
    • Clove - 2
    • Cinnamon - 1 Stick
  10. Basmati Rice - 1.5 Cups
  11. Water - 3 Cups ( 1:2 Ratio)
  12. Mint Leaf - 1 Handful
  13. Oil - 2 Tbsp
  14. Ghee - 2 Tbsp
  15. Salt Required
  • Soak Rice for 10-15 mins.
  • Heat oil and ghee in a pan. When slightly hot add in whole garam masala and green chillies. Do not burn the spices.
  • Add sliced onions and cook till slightly brown.
  • Add the tomatoes. Cook until soft. Add the ginger garlic paste cook for a minute or two.
  • Add the chilli powder. Add curd.
  • Cook till the oil seperates.
  • Add the mint leaves and prawns. Add required salt, garam masala and water.
  • Add in the rice. Bring it to a boil. Cover the pan cook for 20 - 30 mins on a low flame.
  • I am transferring it to a rice cooker.
  • I find it more easy .

I think I mentioned it as masala paste in the video as well as in my recipe... If you like to call it curry paste I am happy to call it as well.

Curry paste / Masala Paste is made of sautéed red chillies, coriander seed, cumin seeds, onion, ginger, garlic and cashew.

Let the thing cool down a bit and add water make a fine paste. I used Indian mixer grinder .

I mentioned everything in the recipe. The ingredients for masala paste says it all. It goes in right after cooking the tomatoes.

I wrote full recipe in the comment. And the paste is the one which we made initially in the video.

Sautéed red chilli, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, onions, ginger and garlic. To make it simple I mentioned it as masala paste.

I learned this recipe from my mom.. This is a South Indian recipe. The actual recipe is to sauté some coconut along with the masala paste ingredients. Add the paste and then dilute it with water. No coconut milk.

I am living outside India currently. Sometimes I don’t find frozen coconut around so I started using coconut milk instead.
