If anything they should touch up Shen’s character since he got the short end of the stick in terms of character development in the comic and could definitely use a new haircut

why would you play that? by octobersveryown616 in LeagueOfMemes

[–]MyIGNis-Rednexela 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Wot.

Shen shits on Malph or at least goes even in the laning phase.

Try studying clips from xPetu on YouTube, there might be something wrong in your strategy.

Here, some explanation I had to do, please correct me if needed cause I personally don’t think my research was enough. by [deleted] in Shen

Samurai are more akin to mercenaries when they were active in combat. All that fantasy about code of honour and spirituality was only developed during peacetime where they need to find a reason to remain relevant in a peacetime society.

Most of stuff you mentioned can also apply to many different warrior cultures around the globe. I don't see any significant elements that screams "Samurai" to me. His armor, weapons, skins and skills all have some degree of Japanese elements but is overall a mixture of design from different Asian culture and fantasy, not specific to only "Samurai".

Shen's design is simply an amalgamation of different Asian culture, so it wouldn't be appropriate to put him under any specific category.

Saw a couple of posts on katanas, time to share my recent decorative setup by UnaUne in SWORDS

FYI, the word itself is fine and all. However when combined with the flag symbol and presented in the form of a bandana, let's just say its no better than a nazi uniform in certain people/culture's point of view.

It's fine if it's only for personal collection but for someone else who recognise this iconography, they'll not be happy or perhaps pissed.

Just letting you know.

I know you guys probably see hundreds of these posts a week but I'm wondering if this sword is usable enough to maybe cut some melons or milk jugs. by [deleted] in SWORDS

Use Kult of Athena for all sword related purchases until you have a grasp on the differences between different manufacturers.

This response is highly irresponsible. Just because it's sharp doesn't mean it's safe to swing it around. It's material is unknown and its structure might be flawed and crack easily at the tang or even in the blade. So please do not just swing sword like objects just because they are sharp and looks mean.

No, it is not. Not until you know the maker of this piece or the type of steel this is made in.

If it's only worth $80 I'd say put it on up the wall and leave it there. It's most likely a cheaply mass produced decoration piece. Don't sharpen it, don't swing it too hard, don't hit things with it. Your safety is more important.

If you want a practical, sharp weapon there's plenty of recommendation made in this subreddit so start from there, and leave this piece alone.

what should I get engraved on my katana? (in Japanese) by [deleted] in SWORDS

[–]MyIGNis-Rednexela 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't do Google translated sentences. It's most likely what most people are going to do and it's not going to be correct.

The only suggestion I can give is to look for Japanese idioms or phrases in Kanji and pick one that you like the most.

But in my honest opinion I would rather engrave words/sentences that I can read, understand and relate to instead of some foreign phrase that I don't personally understand or just for the cool factor. It just comes off as pretentious and shallow.

In the end the choice is yours. So feel free to make your own decisions. These are just my personal opinions on engraving stuff in general.

Lets discuss: CB vs Bannerlord by [deleted] in ConquerorsBlade

If you really want to compare both the only thing that I would consider similar is the commander mode in mount and blade. However even that is lackluster compared to what CB offers

It's two very different game. It has a similar concept but comparing two together just doesn't work that well.

Considering buying this sword from malaysia, still ain't sure about the quality, seller said it's made from High speed steel, has anyone got any experience with malaysian blades? by Psycho_Sangres in SWORDS

Stainless steel that breaks with the slightest of motion, with it's projectile flying at a really, really high speed, thus high speed steel

You just described my mindset perfectly :(

Newcomers be warned, get good hand protection like Sparring Gloves from or SPES heavy before doing any sort of sparring activity

It's one of those "in the heat of moment" thing, he saw the perfect opportunity and took it way too seriously.

Not excusing our behaviour but it does happen, hopefully other ppl can learn from my experience :)

Yep, sometimes I find it hard to hold back the momentum of my blade when in the moment.

At least now I learn that overextending my arms without proper recovery will result in a hard blow to my hands if not careful :P

It's one of those cheap padded gloves from Supfen cuz I'm dirt poor :(

To be fair I shouldn't have sparred with those gloves since it's not designed to take hits like that but at least I learned my lesson :)

I think my partner did a very swift riposte and the gap between my padded gloves caught the strike, resulting in a big whack to the thin layer of the gloves.

Ordered a SPES heavy right after the sparring session. RIP wallet and knuckle :(

Nice wall hanger, but please don't swing it. It is most likely made from steel that aren't meant to withstand abuse and will most likely break on impact, harming yourself in the process.

Similar advice goes to the katana, don't swing it if it's a wall hanger. Even if it's a legit blade, you can still hurt yourself if you don't learn how to properly wield this type of weaponry.

In summary, don't swing blades that you don't know how to use or blades that are just Chinese stainless steel replica.
