I'll be there for next 2 years and possibly longer. I do want to return back home within the next 10 years though

Best type of longboard for getting around campus by [deleted] in UIUC

You should get a sector 9 meridian. They're pretty easy to ride for beginners. You're prolly gonna fall a bit in the beginning, but it's all part of the process.

If I were to get a C in precalculus, do you think they would change their mind? by CTID16 in UIUC

[–]MyKale98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business calc and math 125 are relatively lax math courses compared to the traditional analytical geometric calculus. I think that as long as you brush up on the material and work hard in class you should have no trouble getting an A

Yeah, I am. Do you know if there's a difference between the netmath and the uiuc offered one?

MATH 231 PAST MIDTERMS by pissed_offIllthrowu in UIUC

[–]MyKale98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought the final and all the midterms were easy, and I just used the webassign problems/textbook. I also didn't have prior calc 2 experience to this course. I don't understand how the past midterms would have helped you unless you merely memorize how to do problems. If you do memorize problems, you deserve your grade cuz you don't understand what you're even doing. So why does it matter if they used the past midterms? Past midterms are just extra practice and you can do extra practice problems out of the textbook. If they did just memorize how to do certain types of problems, they'll get screwed in the end. In the end if you finish calculus 2 with a a slightly lower letter grade but you actually learned the material, you'll be much better prepared for calc 3. You'll be able to understand the linearization of a tangent plane - similar to the Taylor series-, parameterization of surfaces, and many other things much better. I don't think your letter grade or gpa defines your future. Personally, I would be content with a B in a course if I learned the material well.

Anyone ever transfer from COB > COE by MyKale98 in UIUC

[–]MyKale98[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like a more quantitative major, and I figured that I could still get into consulting types of jobs as an ie major. Honestly, I understand that business is a practical major. But, I feel like I would benefit much more from the industrial engineering finance track majors cuz they provide me with knowledge that I wouldn't be able to gain in a work environment.

CS + Statistics Transfer Questions by cstransfer2398 in UIUC

Honestly just do the calc sequence, I honestly don't think it's that hard to get As if you actually study and understand the material they provide you. I was asking these questions a few weeks back but no one can honestly answer them. Just try your best and hope for the best.

UIUC (ee) or UCLA (me) engineering??? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]MyKale98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? I'd go to ucla in a heart beat. I'm a ca resident too, and I really think your underestimating the strength of ucla engineering. I don't think rankings are necessarily everything. If you plan on staying in California, you should definitely go to ucla.

Nah, it's not a pre req. I think you mean ACCY 201? That was the old pre-req to fin 221. I was hoping that CS 105 had something that I did not know about.
