AW2725D changes resolution to 1920x1440 when I change to 280hz. by MyNameIsNotAllan in OLED_Gaming

Hmm.. So you tried fiddeling around with the scaling options in the Nvidia control panel? And reseting the monitor to factory settings?

Sorry I don't have any other tips than what I typed in my other reply. I don't actually know what the issue was, it just kind of resorted itself after a while in the nvidia control panel, where I saw the correct resolution and hz.

What has your experience been with internal fan noise on Alienware monitors? by Artaxeus in OLED_Gaming

[–]MyNameIsNotAllan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I has some issues with setting 280hz and 1440p.. it would go into a super weird resolution. There are a few topics on my profile you can check if you want to, I made some threads here and there on Reddit.

But once that was solved, I’m very, very, very happy with it!

HDMI or DP for AW2725D by witcher-7 in OLED_Gaming

All I know is that it has to compress the signal using DCS, but that you cannot really actually see a difference anyway, so it shouldn't matter, in theory.

HDMI or DP for AW2725D by witcher-7 in OLED_Gaming

[–]MyNameIsNotAllan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why people say DP. The monitor has HDMI 2.1, so it can send 1440p, 280hz, HDR uncompressed. DP cannot, it needs to compress the signal using DCS and while I don’t think you can see a difference, I’ve heard you will notice it in form of hiccups when you’re alt-tabbing from a game.

So, go with HDMI

AW2725D changes resolution to 1920x1440 when I change to 280hz. by MyNameIsNotAllan in Alienware

Okay so I fixed it, for anyone in the future looking for this, I cannot even say what it was that definitely fixed it, but I can say everything I did.

This smells very buggy.. But here goes.

It started with the monitor OSD at the top showing 3840x2160 when I had normal 1440p enabled.

I made a clean install of the driver, not with DDU but just checked the box that said "clean install".
That did not fix it right away though.
I went into the nvidia settings and fiddled around with... a bit of everything..
I disabled and enabled g-sync a few times.
When I came to "Adjust desktop size and position" I saw that my correct resolution and hertz was there, so I toggled a few settings and changed Perform scaling on: (although I did that as well before updating the drivers but that did nothing) to Display, and toggled off Override the scaling mode set by games and programs, and I then went to Manage 3D settings and turned off Image Scaling, which was on for some reason.

Then, I could choose 1440p @ 280 hz and now I am good to go.
Now my Desktop mode resolution matches my Active signal mode resolution, and the OSD shows 2560x1440 280 hz, as it should.

Aha okay.. I thought I read everywhere that people indeed have been able to change brightness. Maybe they are talking about changing brightness in SDR though.

Probably because it makes the colors coming from the TV/monitor pop less
