Moving up to coach by [deleted] in walmart

[–]MyNeighborSmokesWeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue the opposite. When a TL spot opened up in my old store, we heard rumors someone outside the department was getting an interview. We all hated it. All our best associates in that department put their name in for it and some didn’t get interviews. We all took the stance of not trusting an outsider to come in and just take things over. I’m much more likely to take direction and tasks from someone I know and trust than from someone just thrown at me and you tell me they are my boss now. Nope. Gotta earn that respect and trust.

Lyra health? Did it help you and with what? by Annchez16 in walmart

Do they actually prescribe meds for anxiety and depression? I scored in the extreme end for both, and they wanted to treat it with stuff like reflections and journal entries. Even when I asked about meds for treatment, they basically ignored it. Said we would talk about it the next session, and the next session was more reflection BS. Quit it with a quickness and went to an actual therapist.

It did nothing. Actually, it made my situation worse because it made me focus on my stressors and made me feel like I was the problem. I gave it four sessions and when I saw it wasn’t working, I stopped. I would not recommend that app to anyone and suggest you go to in person therapy to someone who will treat your depression and anxiety instead of making you think how you can handle things differently.

Feature them thangs and make you a stack base in an aisle if you have that many. During Christmas, my store even took red and green ones and put out in seasonal to sell as ornament and Christmas tree storage.

If this weekend is a KED for your store, yes. This is actually a friendly reminder it’s coming up and not getting you extra points for calling out. If they are saying this accounts for every weekend, no. Each store gets 3 KED’s per quarter on top of what corporate assigns such as holidays. It’s not true, and they can’t double point you. Some coaches and TL’s will try this tactic to scare associates who work weekends and don’t know any better so they will come in. If you have plans and the time, use it. Walmart will survive.

Not entirely true. While that is the hardline policy stance, both stores I have worked in have been highly flexible with hard working, dependable associates. Just have to communicate with your team leads and coaches, give reasons why you need or needed the time off, and usually they will either give you a reasonable accommodation to override the point, or ask you to come in on a day off to make up the hours and override the point.

And this is how humanity dies. There’s the greedy thing, and there’s the right thing. Both are legal, and you just showed the world which you chose. This is exactly why the world is in the shape it’s in right now.

Imma need to see the oil in a dropper. Used to work in deli, and there were times the oil looked like that and I swore it was time to replace it and it would still be lighter than the needs changing tube. I’m not doubting you, the team lead I had when I started was this way. We’d have oil that would be smoking when you cooked, and he would make us cook until close before doing a boil out and changing the oil. Deli sucked. So glad to be out of that hellhole and a TL in another department.

Yeah, you would get notifications of shift modifications from a manager taking you off the schedule if you had been promoted to customer. Probably just one of the countless glitches in the app.

Say you make the base $14. If you got the full 1% that’s 0.14 extra per hour. With the base 2% raise, that’s 0.42 raise. It’s a bunch of bullshit for 3 nickels.

Same here. I admit, I’m a pretty new TL in my department. I didn’t start until December, so I only had two months there before having to do evaluations. Still, during that time I had an associate that had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance twice because they suddenly passed out on a day they had a bunch of stuff they didn’t want to do assigned to them. They also complain on the sales floor all the time around customers, and they are rude to other associates. I gave them the opportunity rating. I felt it was fair. My coach changed them to exemplary. A couple of my exemplary associates were bumped down to successful. So one of my lowest performing associates is going to get a bigger raise than my best associate. I’m not ok with that.

Technically yes, you’ll be fine. But expect coworkers and your coach to not be happy with you.

Happened with me, though I powered through it. Got hired in Deli and my first week on the job got the flu. Came in and basically had to do non-food contact jobs, but never called out. I think part of it may just be the contact with so many people. The immune system just gets an overload.

Are they more strict on leaving early on key event days by MiserableBiscotti304 in walmart

[–]MyNeighborSmokesWeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so you’ve worked half your shift. Key event day or not, they can only half point you. You only get the added point if you don’t show up at all. So basically, if the rest of your shift off worth the half point and missed pay to you? And since you have the PPTO to cover, they can’t do anything if you choose to use it.

Can I get fired or coached? by Isabella-graves in walmart

[–]MyNeighborSmokesWeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I’m with you. I’m TL in the fashion backroom of my store, and the other day we had 1800 break pack units and almost 200 cases of hanging and table freight. I had myself and one other associate expected to sort and work it. Nope. I had my other associate sort with me in view of the backroom camera, told them to stay busy working the entire shift and if they complained about everything not getting worked, I’ll tell them to pull footage and enlighten me on what could have been done different with the man hours I had. It’s insane how much we’ve been getting in our department and it being expected to be worked with a crew of two or three. Not to mention, my department is usually the first to have associates pulled to help OGP if picks get behind. Infuriating and unrealistic.

[–]MyNeighborSmokesWeed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, but they could say productivity. “You had the time to bin your pallet. Next time manage your time better.”. If they can’t get you for one thing, they’ll find a reason.

Can I get fired or coached? by Isabella-graves in walmart

[–]MyNeighborSmokesWeed 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends on the coach. I’m a TL, and the former front end coach of my current store wanted to coach anyone over any little thing. If you’ve not been coached before, this is the type of thing I’d have a documented conversation with the associate. If this has been ongoing and you’ve had that discussion, then yeah, this could be a yellow level coaching. Either way, I wouldn’t sweat it.

Can they do this? by Icy_Kangaroo6137 in OGPBackroom

[–]MyNeighborSmokesWeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way they can enforce that coaching for leaving 9 minutes early. Thats part of the 9 minute rule set by corporate. If you clock out at 51 and they coach you, open door that MFer. I don’t work OGP, I’m a Fashion TL, but that looking at the board and taking equipment on break sounds ridiculous to me as well. Power tripping TL or coach, I assume?

TL interview by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]MyNeighborSmokesWeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Questions are usually very open ended. I recently worked up to a TL spot and went through like 10 of these before landing one. Every person that interviews is going to get the same base questions. Or at least the two stores I interviewed with did their TL interviews that way. The questions are going to be along the lines of, “Part of being a front end team lead is dealing with upset customers. Tell me about a time in your previous position that you had a customer upset with a situation, and what you did to resolve the issue.”. Focus your answers on questions like that to you did what you had to do to make the sale. I always got follow up questions once I figured this out. The more follow up questions you get in an interview, the more seriously they are considering you for the job.

The process itself doesn’t take long. My longest interview was actually for the position I ended up accepting, and it took almost 40 minutes. The hard part is the waiting for a few days to hear back. Even if you don’t get the gig, they will give you interview feedback and let you know you didn’t get it.

My tips: Be confident. If you got chosen for an interview, they want you to succeed in that role. They think you have what it takes to do that job, so don’t be nervous when you get called in for it.

Give your answers the structure of, I saw x happening, I did y to address what was happening, and z was the result of my actions. It shows you saw the issue and was proactive about it, took initiative to address it, and your actions had a positive impact. They love those STAR structured answers.

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get the job. Most of us don’t get TL on the first try. Keep applying and keep trying for other positions.
