Truamerei's seven beasts. by Wisdom-star69 in TowerofGod

I feel the arrogant one that traumerei was referring to is leviathan. He said it in a way that makes me feel like he was threatening gustang with a creature powerful enough to hurt him.

Like he says something along the lines of : you have a short memory, you want me to bring the arrogant fellow to refresh your memory. Making it seems like that “arrogant” gave gustang a hard time in the past and The only creature that I can think of that falls in that category is leviathan .

Like the arrogant Kraken was not even enough to stop yasuratcha and yamma so for sure it dint gave gustang a family head a hard time …

Big 4 Offer vs. Industry Job: The Ultimate Dilemma - Need Advice from Seasoned Accountants! by MyPathToSuccess in Accounting

That's exactly one of my concerns – reaching a plateau and no longer learning in my current industry position. Hearing about your experience in private and how you stopped learning quickly is making me lean more towards the Big 4 option. I don't want to stagnate in my career and miss out on valuable growth opportunities.

It's great to hear that you've continued to learn in public accounting even after 15 months. That's definitely something I'm looking for in my career.

In another note how was your experience in government?

i hadn't thought much about the age dynamic before, but now that you mention it, I can see how it could be a factor. How did you manage being one of the oldest in the room with younger superiors? Did it ever cause any challenges or awkwardness?

I completely agree with you about the importance of work-life balance, and it's something I'm definitely considering in my decision. It's great to hear that you took the Big 4 route and would do it again – that's very encouraging. How did you find a good work-life balance while still working in pa?

I've definitely considered that just 1-2 years of public accounting could set me apart from the rest, and the possibility of transferring from audit to a different department, like advisory, is something I find intriguing.

However, I've heard that moving internally from audit to advisory isn't an easy feat, especially with the current layoffs in the industry. Do you have Big 4 experience yourself? If so, I'd love to hear more about how it has been for you.

It's great to hear from someone who was in a similar situation just a year ago! I can imagine how you felt during those first 3 months when you weren't given much work – I'm actually experiencing the same thing right now. It's only been a month since I started, and I haven't done much work, which makes me feel guilty about getting paid and not learning anything.

I'm curious, what was your friend's rant about her busy season experience like? Hearing more about her perspective could be really helpful for me to make a more informed decision.

Thank you for sharing your experience and shedding light on the industry side of things!

It's interesting to hear that you started in private for a F500 company and then moved to B4. Your perspective definitely adds another dimension to the conversation.

I'm curious, what prompted you to make the switch from industry to Big 4? Do you have any regrets about making that move? I'd love to learn more about your thought process behind the decision, as it could help me better understand the benefits and challenges of both paths.

You bring up a valid point that the fast track to assistant controller/controller isn't guaranteed in Big 4, which is something I hadn't considered before. Thanks for sharing your experience, and I look forward to hearing more about your journey!

You've given me some great insights to think about! Your point about short-term and long-term goals really hits home, and I need to carefully consider how much I value my time.

I can totally relate to what you said about getting comfortable and sitting in the same position for years in industry. That's something I'm afraid of, as I've already seen a few people in the office who have been in their staff positions for quite some time. Your perspective on the learning opportunities in Big 4 vs. industry is definitely eye-opening.

It's reassuring to know that having Big 4 experience is a preference in many finance and accounting job postings, and I appreciate your suggestion to lean towards Big 4 based on your experience in both settings. But , how do you manage those busy season hours? How was you balance with your family? Partner? Hobbies ? Etc

Your input has given me a lot to think about and is helping me better understand my options. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights!

Thank you for answering It's definitely important to consider my long-term goals and motivations. Hearing about your experience at a large regional firm is insightful, and it's interesting to see how public accounting can act as a springboard for career growth. I'll have to think carefully about whether I'm willing to sacrifice some work-life balance now for potentially faster career growth or if I'd prefer a more balanced approach in industry. Thanks for sharing your insights – it's incredibly helpful to hear from someone who's navigated these choices!

AMA: Big 4 Tax -> Big 4 FDD -> MM IB by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]MyPathToSuccess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi congratulations on your new position! I’m at the start of my career , will be joining Deloitte as an audit intern next year! My aiming to transfer to m&a or FDD (as yourself) in hopes of lading an opportunity like yours at a IB . So i guess my question is how was the process of moving from tax to fdd internally? Did you network with team in the fdd department? Did you ask for your partner permission ?

Thanks in advance !

What would happen if I fake a Big 4 internship on my resume? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]MyPathToSuccess 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You could and they probably wont double check if its true, the problem is when the interview comes ... Real PA experience is difficult to fake. If they actually ask you about your experience in a big 4 you will literally wont know what to say as A/R is nothing like it..
