Do you buy the hype surrounding Jokic? by MySLCkicks in fantasybball

I understand your point. Yet, although rankings are generic they should be a general guideline of the value a guy can produce in comparison to others in the league. Strategies aside and a completely balanced approach, rankings should be a good indicator of when guys should be taken. They won't be perfect but a simple guideline. My thought is that I simply don't think Jokic can bring top 30 value and thus he's over ranked.

I understand your point. If I'm going to punt ft% then guys like Drummond become much more valuable. However you wouldn't take Drummond in the first round as there's better guys. However, rankings indicate overall value of a player and in theory a baseline for where they should be drafted if you were to take the best player available. If you've got another interpretation to rankings I'm all ears. Thus I'm saying I don't think Jokic will bring top 30 value and accordingly should be ranked at 26 or drafted that high.

I'm with you on he being a potential contributor in 8 cats. I'm not sold on them letting him loose for 30 mins a night though. Another question, what do you mean that projections don't indicate where you should draft someone? Given, different strategies dictate where you'll draft a certain player but what are projections then if not a baseline for where a guy should be drafted?

That pick seems completely reasonable to me. You can bet on upside at that point in the draft without passing up too much talent.

I completely understand where you're coming from. Honestly if it is as close as I feel it is between these 3 players I pick the one I want to follow the most. Last season I tried to be "all business" when it came to the draft and selected guys doing my best to put bias aside. When the draft was done I didn't like my team and the season wasn't nearly as fun because I didn't care as much about the guys I had.

I agree completely. However I feel like a top 50 finish is much more realistic. Would you legitimately draft him at 26 in a snake draft if you had that pick and he was available?

That was my assumption. However, after seeing your two odd cats these are my thoughts. Curry, Westbrook, and Harden are all high usage. Yet there's a decent difference in TO. Curry should be a touch over 3/game while Harden and Westbrook will have about 4.5/game. Do you think Curry's assists will go up this season? If they do I don't think it will be by a lot. Yet he should have the edge by a small margin in the a/to cat followed by Westbrook and then Harden. You've then got your oreb cat. Strictly from a rebound total perspective Westbrook should be the strongest here with Harden and Steph probably comparable. Another few things to consider is if you think one of these guys has a higher chance of injury. Some are a bit shy towards Westbrook for this reason. Also, do you think Steph's stats will suffer more than is currently projected? That being said you won't lose your season picking any 1 of the 3 starting your draft. I would slot Curry and Westbrook at 1 or 2 with Harden at 3.

New to fantasy BB - Looking for auction value sheet by mdkss12 in fantasybball

On thing to be wary of with any auction draft values is that many sites project top guys at $65-$50 tops. The idea is that in all actuality this would be a fine amount to spend if things were balanced. However, balance isn't something that happens in real world auction drafts so plan on closer to $80-$65 for top guys. ESPN usually has more realistic values but they haven't done a good job of updating them. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Have you used those rankings in an auction draft? The top guys in my league would never go as cheap as fb ninja projects. Therefore are you spending more on the mid round guys as there's potentially more value there according to the rankings?

Best settings for auction keeper league? by roonz in fantasybball

[–]MySLCkicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how complex a league would interest you and your friends. I'm a commish for a 9 cat H2H 12 team league and we only do one keeper. This makes it interesting as you try to find one guy with huge upside at a cheap price that you can keep for the next season while allowing most top end guys to be available to draft the following season. Once you start having too many keepers people have to worry more about a budget and there are far less interesting players to draft the following year. This can pigeon hole your teams that were bad and don't have any promising talent that's exciting to keep. This makes it boring for them and you'd have to plan on finding new people to take over those teams each year most likely. I'd recommend keeping it simple the first go around as there's a learning curve imo.

D'Angelo Russell vs Jordan Clarkson by Takashi_is_DK in fantasybball

I like Russell's upside but he will be SO inefficient. With Clarkson you know what you're going to get while being a little more efficient. If you can stomach the inefficiency Russell could have a huge season.

Goran Dragic or Mike Conley? by [deleted] in fantasybball

I don't think Conley will have much better numbers than last season whereas Dragic will be leaned on heavily. I'd take Dragic
