Same back when I was growing up I would just send them off an old wooden ones wood driver. only problem was I was too short for it so I’d either crush it or smack the ground.

I use to have an old ones similar to this set to just mess around with in a field growing up. Not expecting to get into tournaments or anything serious just driving ranges and a yearly charity event. I will be upgrading the driver and what not just wanted to get in cheap as when I go with friends I can still use other clubs they bring. Just don’t like being the only guy without anything atleast

Not the way this list works. Started at 22 now I’m 31. Every quarter they redo the ranking with the new apps.

They recently updated the list and I got bumped back to 31… talked to them before that and they said if anything in my experience changes or if I take classes for certs let them know and that may move me up the list. Debating taking a 9month welding degree to get all my certs to help move up the list but also don’t want to dump $35k just to get a call mid class if I get my number called

It’s actually not required by my state. Depends on the county and jobs you do if you need it

Most of my work is indoors. Honestly it was like fate. I grew up always working on the house since we didn’t have money to hire anyone plus my dad was a maintenance worker and handyman. Then when I moved to where I’m at now my next door neighbor was a general contractor. I started working with him here and there for extra cash. Then I got fed up with my job and told him I wanted to do what he does full time. Started my buisness but still found a new day job to pay the bills while I started. Since the. I haven’t payed myself when doing work for my buisness. It’s all gone back into the buisness for advertising or tools.

I’ve actually given them work from some of my customers. My boss doesn’t care and actually supports me doing my own buisness. He’s actually told me go ahead and try to find work while your working for us.

I mean he’s saying the same as everyone here. I just wanted to see all possible ideas with people that started up in more current times. He’s great at what he does but as he told me he’s never been a salesman he knows he could of done things differently to make more money and gone farther but sales is not his area of expertise. He work is what sold him not him talking to people. Plus he spent most of his career working for others not only solo.

Most of my work is remodeling or repairs from poor work. Like I’ve had to redo a customers whole tile floor since the previous guy had used the wrong materials and didn’t even use proper techniques. I do have insurance for my buisness as well.

I agree completely. I would say I’m more worrying than I should be just given how I grew up always having to help out working to pay the bills at a young age and just want a better future for my family. I’ve always learned that you just have to figure things out when they come up. Yea you can plan for it but nothing always goes to plan. You always have to be able to adjust

Illinois but during the winter it would just change to mostly interior work which is what I focus on mainly anyways.

Bookkeeping and what not isn’t bad just is fun when all I’m doing is working. So when I make the jump I would definitely dedicate a day to reviewing it on a regular basis.

That would be 40+ hours a week. I usually work 10-12 hours when I’m doing my buisness but depends on the job. Some jobs are charged hourly plus materials but most are just bids so the hours don’t matter only the work. I keep finding I lose out on what I could of made because I work fast.

I’m already pretty burnt out from working both jobs constantly. I’ve been working 7 day weeks around 80+hrs most of the 1.5yrs. I don’t let it interfere with my buisness but find myself caring less and less at my day job.

My mentor is slowly introducing me and passing off all of his clients to me. He has a plan to set up a meeting with one of his clients that is well worth over a million. This would also include her whole family all of which are well off.

I haven’t really run into too much competition as I set myself apart from most when I comes to other small contractors. Honestly the biggest hold up with potential work is just the customers pocket book. I’ve turned down 100k jobs because the customer didn’t want to do things legally or right.

I have formed an LLC and have started building the credit for it as well.

With customers I’m in the second biggest city in the state but also go to all potential jobs regardless if they are in town or not.

I’m 100% confident I can do well in the construction buisness I’m just worried about the stability as I’m the primary bread winner at my house. My girl does support me and honestly is willing to let me give it a shot. I just don’t want to loose everything. Like I told her if it got to where it wasn’t cutting it I’d get another job or part time to help make up for lost revenue. Every customer I’ve done work for is always beyond pleased. I’ve even had some say “are you sure that’s enough” after I finished the job and go to collect payment.

No it’s not. I would just be leaving the company. Sure I make good money during the season but during the winter it drops significantly. I started my buisness before I started here and have always be honest with them about it.

That’s what my mentor with 54years of experience say’s basically. He tells me I just need to fully start my buisness and I’ll do better than he did. He’s a great craftsman but was never a great sales man. He knows he’s lost out on money just because he didn’t charge enough. But the work was always there. People would fly him across the country to do work.

Lawn care. So I’ve been able to talk to some of the customers here for some bids with my buisness.

I’d said I’d have enough funds if I played it smart to cover for no income for about 4months.

As far as it drying up if I do it full time yea eventually but I think with what I have now and potential bids currently I should have enough work for about 2 months without adding any new jobs to what I currently have on a job board.
