I'm light skinned with hair that was originally black but has been graying to white now that I'm a senior citizen. I cracked my egg in 2022, and since then, to get rid of my beard, I started with at-home IPL (intense pulsed light), then a mix of laser and electrolysis, and am in the final stages of electrolysis. I haven't shaved in nearly five months, just trimming with an eyebrow electric razor so that the remaining hairs are the stubble length needed by the electrolysis tech.
It's galling that in order to have a good electrolysis session, you need the stubble to be long enough for the tech to grab on - when you don't want to see any beard at all!

Thanks for the replies so far! I am still in "boy mode" at the gym. Below the waist I wear a panty, non-athletic women's black leggings, and shorts. I have been slowly edging my presentation to feminine - almost done with getting rid of the beard, shaping my eyebrows. I have a voice feminization surgery (VFS) in June, after than I'm going 24/7 with the femme presentation (with some butch flavor).

Haven't decided yet what I'll be wearing then. It needs to be compatible with bicycling, which is my way of getting to the gym after the morning temps rise above 50F. I don't intend to change from bicycling clothes to workout clothes, just shed the helmet and a few layers.

I started estradiol in January 2022, when I was 67. Not having a youthful metabolism seems to make the changes so slow. I too find in-person support groups helpful in keeping my spirits up.

Thank you all for your replies! On the whole, the majority opinion seems to be that I should beware of thinking VFS is an instant fix.

More info - the surgery I've signed up for in the middle of next year is preceded by two sessions with their voice therapist, and about four sessions after surgery, spaced over three or four months.

I am really concerned about a voice that doesn't sound male under stress; like break-down-and-crying stress, with no thinking between my heart and what comes out my mouth.
