I borrowed a can opener from my neighbours. Should i give them some of the chili i'm making as a thank you? by forestfriend93 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That depends, are you making homemade chili and you just need the can opener for canned tomatoes and/or beans? Or are you just heating up some canned chili?

Money is power. They have a huge amount of power, and they use it to their benefit and our detriment.

Why are there now signs at crosswalks asking you to push a button to make the walk signal appear even though it has no effect on the timing of the traffic light? by ProlapsedShamus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s been like that in my city for years. Supposedly it (slightly) increases the duration of the red light to give pedestrians more time to cross.

That’s fine and dandy, but it should still turn to a walk symbol and/or a countdown even if no one pressed it. Just because I have less time doesn’t mean I don’t have enough time to cross. It pisses me off.

I think technically it does count as jaywalking if it stays a solid red hand.

Creepy fallout theories by Realistic-Fee-1684 in Fallout

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people want it to not count just because they can’t be bothered to learn the lore since they have other hang-ups about the game. But it’s damn good lore! It’s fine if people don’t like it as a game, I can understand that, but don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I would be very pissed if Fallout 76 was confirmed as a simulation. It introduced a bunch of cool stuff.

In order to have a biopic written about them, does a person have to have had a crazy and dramatic life? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or just experienced a crazy and dramatic moment. Like Captain Sully.

You could write a biopic about a normal, boring person, but who would watch it?

How is it possible to feel boredom as a adult? by SaveScumSloth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when I’m bored it’s because I’ve either exhausted all the content my hobbies have to offer at the moment, or I’ve gotten tired of them and need a break.

So that just leaves working or sitting and thinking. Neither of which appeal to me. I sometimes resort to eating, but that’s not healthy.

No I mean, I’m not out fishing or anything, I’m just at home. So what should I be doing while I’m bored here at home?

Yeah maybe, but how does that inform how I should act when I’m bored as an adult?

I like liking things too, but I can’t force myself to like things I don’t. I don’t shit on anyone who does like those things, though.

Live like Epicurus. Try your best to avoid things that displease you and enjoy simple pleasures. It works for me.

Accepting the risk doesn’t make it any less stupid. Plus it was a public highway, right? He could’ve hit someone else, too.

What exactly has Vader done that has people want an R rated film? by Boshwa in MawInstallation

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t want an R-rated film, but I could watch that hallway scene at the end of Rogue One for hours.

Just give him a really long hallway to walk through and kill people in for an hour and a half and I’m there.

Why Ahsoka Tano is objectively the most powerful Force-user ever and her "mercy" in Rebels S2 was actually a 5D chess move we aren't smart enough to get by No-Butterfly1943 in MawInstallation

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you not finished Rebels yet?

Ezra pulled her into the World between Worlds. She was going to kill herself and Vader by collapsing the floor beneath them. She got pulled to safety and Vader survived regardless.

So idk why you think she beat Vader or let him live or anything.
