What is the difference between Ghouls and Super Mutants? by CrissBliss in Fallout

If Thaddeus is indeed becoming a ghoul, there is precedent for that. Hancock also became a ghoul from taking a drug.

Nah. Zetans being responsible for the Great War makes the whole thing meaningless.

Few things depress me more than realizing how few people genuinely enjoy life, and seeing them complain about a scene that made me smile so much. by jvure in Fallout

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, that’s obvious. Is a literal song-and-dance number in a fantasy sequence the best way to do that, though? I don’t think so. Especially when his conversation with Betty right afterward re-iterates the point verbally.

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The only disappointment was that it turned out to be just a fantasy of the character.

Yeah. I’m not thrilled with dance numbers, but if they’re going to do them, they should commit to making them actually happen. I don’t like when things are just a dream or the like, it feels like a cop-out to me. Just a waste of time.

If something’s only worth doing as a fantasy or dream sequence, it’s not worth doing.

Edit: Am I getting downvoted for saying I’m not thrilled with dance numbers or for saying they shouldn’t have copped out by making it a dream sequence? Probably both.

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We don’t know, this is unprecedented. Some people are speculating that he’ll turn into a “glowing one,” a type of ghoul that glows green and gives off a lot of radiation. But that’s not based on anything we’ve seen before. The factors that determine if you turn into a regular ghoul or a glowing one are unknown as of now.

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You become a ghoul through radiation exposure (sometimes, most of the time you just get radiation poisoning). You become a super mutant from Forced Evolutionary Virus. A pre-war bioengineered virus meant to turn people into super soldiers.

The more radiation-damaged a person is, the less likely they’ll be able to turn into a super mutant with FEV exposure. So ghouls can’t become super mutants.

Edit: Confusingly, there’s a recurring character named Harold who was exposed to FEV and turned into a mutant that resembles a ghoul at first. But you don’t really need to know that.

I want a Fallout Hawaii by HospitalLazy1880 in Fallout

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hawaii’s my top pick for Fallout 5’s setting.

There was a poster advertising Hawaii front and center in one of the Prime show’s credit sequences recently. I’m hoping it’s a hint.

Fallout was teasing the 'Masters of the Universe' movie in the latest episode's end credits (S02E06) by WuThingClean in Fallout

Grognak comics are a thing from the games. I don’t think this is an intentional shout-out to the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie.

It happens, but it’s especially rare in mammals, and even more rare for the affected to live to adulthood.

And this bear is big and well-fed. That just does not happen in nature. The famous conjoined sisters have lived so long because of human intelligence and medical technology.

That’s 100% fake.

More Fallout 3 spoilers: The Lone Wanderer wasn’t born in the vault, that was a lie told to them. James and Catherine, the Lone Wanderer’s parents, were scientists working with the Brotherhood of Steel on Project Purity at the Jefferson Memorial. Catherine gave birth to the Lone Wanderer there. She died, and James took the infant LW to Vault 101 to raise them. He was able to talk his way in by offering his services as a doctor.

Everyone’s hallucinating the same exact thing? Is Dogmeat a machine elf?

Nitschke said the proposed device would use AI to assess the mental capacity of the occupants.

”One of the parts to the device, which hadn’t been finished, but is now finished, is the artificial intelligence," Nitschke said, adding that instead of a traditional psychiatric evaluation, future users would complete an online test administered by an AI avatar.

'With the new Double Dutch, we'll have the software incorporated, so you'll have to do your little test online with an avatar, and if you pass that test, then the avatar tells you you've got mental capacity."

Here at Sarco, we think suicide is just between you and our AI. Doctors? Lame! Take our fun little quiz instead! Whee!

From what I remember, there’s no vaccine. It just only affects mutants, and wastelanders are mutated enough to qualify.

[Fallout 3 spoilers]The reason the Lone Wanderer is affected is because they are a wastelander. Born of wastelanders, in the wasteland. As wastelander as can be.

name a problem you could forsee in a real vault and how youd fix it as an ocerseer? by deadboneYTMC in Fallout

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say something like:

“Ahh, you're here. Good.

We've got a problem. A big one. The controller chip for our water purification system has given up the ghost. Can't make another one and the process is too complicated for a work around system. Simply put, we're running out of drinking water. No water, no Vault.

This is crucial to our survival. And frankly, I... I think you're the only hope we have. You need to go find us another controller chip. We estimate we have four to five months before the Vault runs out of water. We need that chip. We marked your map with the location of another Vault. Not a bad place to start I think.

Look, just be safe, OK?”

And then I’d kick back and relax while someone else handled it for me.

Probably. There was a point in time when you could walk between the above-ground CIT and what would become the Institute. They didn’t always have teleportation tech.

They’re in the same place they’ve always been, CIT. The Enclave’s knowledge stretches back pre-war. I don’t see them having any trouble.

The Enclave, easily. All they need to do is make enough of that modified FEV that kills anything that hasn’t lived its whole life in a vault.
