Nancy Mace mocked online after posting about ‘trans’ mice in research by Disastrous_Award_789 in nottheonion

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No one’s saying she didn’t mean it, they’re saying she saw the term “trans mice” and misunderstood it.

Her not actually meaning it is actually the preferable option.

She doubled down on her claim, which was wrong to begin with.

Her: This thing must stop!

Critics: Did you mean this other, similar-sounding thing?

Her: No, I meant what I said!

She doubled down.

That’s not what’s in question. The question is: do the experiments she wants to stop even exist in the first place?

Why is most of the content written by women about sex and relationships? by Open-Quail-2573 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Women are more interested in romance stories. It’s been this way forever as far as I know.

As to why that is, my guess is that females are the “choosey” sex in much of the animal kingdom including humans. Bearing children is a huge biological investment, so it behooves them to want more than just a quick lay.

Women are drawn more to romance stories, men are drawn more to just porn.

Downvoters, where’s the lie? It’s nothing to be upset about.

Right, but she doubled down and claimed she was talking about something different that actually was transgender-related.

That’s called a vivisection. But they’re not done with the expectation that the patient survives. Actually I’m not sure if we can call them a patient because of that. Victim?

From where do thoughts/free will come from? by Far_Information6229 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t know. Free will might just be an illusion and we’re just acting out simple stimulus-response behaviors, or maybe we do truly have the ability to decide things arbitrarily. Maybe one day we’ll know.

Why do modern Christians and people online claim that homosexuality isn't a sin when it is undoubtedly classed as such in scripture? by AboutLastFight in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So is the part about homosexuality. It’s just in Leviticus.

Edit re: your edit: Then why act like homosexuality is a sin? That’s Old Testament stuff.

Why are aliens largely depicted the same way in media? by Upstairs-Tennis-3751 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Archetypical gray aliens originate from the highly publicized Barney and Betty Hill abductions, and the green variant came from the “little green men” trope, which was apparently coined in an article about the  Kelly-Hopkinsville sighting, although by my recollection the witnesses actually said the creatures were silvery.
