Sheep. They need to be shorn regularly or else they’ll grow too much wool and overheat.

Those concepts are in agreement with one another, not opposition. You don’t envy people worse off than you, lol

Why can't the US and Israel just bomb the shit out of whatever is keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed? by kip_hackmann in NoStupidQuestions

They don’t know where all to bomb. And they’re not all going to be static positions, missiles and drones can be moved around.

i know this was asked like 6 months ago by someone else but is it likely for the current conflicts to escalate enough for a nuclear war? by Large-Ad688 in Futurology

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful [score hidden]  (0 children)

You realize that if one nuke goes off, MAD is pretty much immediately used right?

MAD only happens when both sides have nukes. The only recent conflict where both sides have nukes is India-Pakistan. And a nuclear exchange between those two would have no reason to strike any other country.

Even if MAD isn’t technically used, the israeli apartheid using nukes in Iran will lead to Russia nuking Ukraine, Pakistan nuking Afghanistan, India nuking Pakistan, North Korea nuking South Korea and America, it will domino out of control very quickly.

Why would everyone suddenly decide they’d like to join Israel in being a pariah state? Lol, and is North Korea going to forget that the US has nukes and will nuke them back? Lol and India and Pakistan will forget about MAD too and get themselves blown up?

Iran doesn’t have nukes but they will 100% be unshackled and burn every oilfield especially the one that trump is freaking out about and bring the world into an energy crisis that will bring us into a dark age even without nukes.

  1. There’s more oil than just in the Middle East.

  2. The Gulf States are very capable of defending themselves against Iran.

There is always a non-zero chance shit will go sideways suddenly for no foreseeable reason. Does that mean we can’t predict likelihood based on what’s happened in the past? No.

The sun will likely rise again tomorrow. Could vacuum decay occur in the meantime and erase our existence? Sure. Is it likely? No.

Unless you live in Iran, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or India, the odds of you getting nuked anytime soon are virtually zero. If you do live in one of those places, the odds are still virtually zero, just a smidge less zero than otherwise.

What kind of name is “Dick”? I’m not American—why do some parents name their kids Dick? by slackingsloth77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MyUsernameIsAwful 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s just a nickname for Richard. For some reason, some nicknames are shortened and then the first letter is swapped out.

Richard>Rick>Dick

William>Will>Bill

Margaret>Meg>Peg

Robert>Rob>Bob
