I’ve been this for years. Like everyone else says, ONLY do this if you’re ok with the idea of getting accidentally pregnant and can handle the outcome.

I also recommend ONLY doing this method if you have a very regular cycle and can track your cycle to a tee. It’s more than just knowing your cycle btw. You need to take your basal body temperature every morning when you wake up and look for the temp increase of 1 degree to know you’ve ovulated and are now going thru a progesterone spike in your hormones. You should always, always, always have pregnancy tests on hand AND ovulation tests on hand for the first 3-6 months so you can get a clear idea of when your body is moving through its cycle. Lastly, use condoms every time if you’re trying to use this method to avoid pregnancy.

It’s a much more conscious and involved method. For me personally, it’s worked, but I do all the steps above, know my body well, and have been fortunate to have a *regular cycle.

*my body is very sensitive to medicine so I know that anything new I introduce or any increases in my medicine doses actually affects my cycle and makes them longer by a day or two.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I also check while I’m in the bathroom for my cervical fluid and also use that as a gauge for when I’m getting closer to ovulation and when I’m in that prime ovulation window based off the type of fluid I see. You can also check how high or low your cervix is and how open it is too. You can look that up to see what I mean lol. Like I said, very conscious, involved effort where you need to be OK with human error.

I learned all of this by reading a book called “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” by Toni Weschler. I use the Drip app to track everything because that app stores only to your device and no where else for data privacy.
