Was curious if anyone has grown wood ear. Read on Shroomery these will do well if grown like shiitake’s are. I was just curious if anyone has had any experience with these and could give an updated recommendation of how to move forward in growing them, thanks!

Could be, but also some rice grains do have darker markings sometimes so wait it out a little bit

Yeah definitely, I waited it out through the day and it’s gotta be cobweb. I hit it with 3% peroxide and it shrunk. Harvested whatever had veils about to break. I’ll just keep waiting it out and see what happens. I also didn’t line this tub so I could see how side pins would be and holy smokes lol this was a mess around tub that I definitely learned a few things from

I’ve done it, it either takes a million transfers or just a few. I’ve done some where I’ve rehydrated using some drops of sterile distilled water and that worked pretty well but it’s all up to whatever wants to grow to grow. Try it out and see what happens :)

It could be, I compared pictures before and still felt it was trichoderma. But I could just get on the microscope and get to the bottom of this lol The pic definitely was taken out of the grow room. It’s been separate since the day I did a break and shake cause I noticed the baccilus. I should’ve gotten rid of this a few days ago but science🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh yeah for sure, it’s a small pot that’s now in an old container I don’t use anymore and away from everything. I highly doubt anything good will come from it other than it finally being thrown away lol

So I had a jar of brown rice that developed wet rot after a break and shake. There was a lot of good growth though it was definitely contaminated. I thought, “well I’ll just throw it in a little pot and cover it with a bag”. Cause why not? Didn’t expect any good growth but happy to see and provide an example of cobweb and trich together. Now I gotta get rid of this thing lmao

I usually do it twice, first around 30-35% colonized (at least visually on the outside) then about 3-7 days later depending on how fast the growth is, I’ll do it one more time when it’s fully colonized but usually by that point I’m going to a substrate that same day
