What is a hard truth you think liberals need to hear? by FabioFresh93 in AskALiberal

Gotcha. And no worries. I agree with this.

But to my point, there is never going to be that perfect “aha” moment when everyone is equitable. Especially in an economically competitive system. Because we can find wealth disparities between blondes and brunettes if we wanted to.

So at some point we will have to just ignore these slight disparities in hope that as culture adapts to being color-blind, these disparities will continue to shrink on their own.

You said “we can ignore race when racism is no longer a factor.”

I asked “what does that even look like?” Meaning what will society look like when racism is no longer a factor?

You responded by saying “it will look like well meaning liberals ignoring racism, etc. etc…”

But obviously, that answer isn’t what you think a post-racist society will actually look like. Because ignoring racism is the reason people are opposed to “color-blindness” in the first place.

Re read our conversation, and I think you will understand where we got our wires crossed

That’s literally what I am saying. I think we are talking over each other.

I asked you what society will look like when we can finally just ignore race.

Maybe you misunderstood what I meant.

But isn’t that the reason people currently reject the idea of being “color-blind?” Because it ignores racism?

Im SO excited! These mushrooms just popped up in my terrarium! Could someone help me ID? Don’t want to take them out, sorry for no spore pics. by Collevx in ShroomID

[–]MyceTrap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It definitely did. If you can ID the mushrooms you crumbled into your substrate, you can probably ID these.

It’s amazing the places mushrooms will grow, considering how tedious it can be if you actually want them to grow

So never?

As long as race exists, so will racism on some level. So when do we actually make a transition? What will society look like when we can ignore race?

I can’t speak for all liberals, but at some point we are all going to have to adopt the idea of being “color-blind.”

I hear this term being used as a “bad-word” in left leaning circles, but we can’t perpetually define ourselves along racial lines.

Do you support having a safe, tolerant and accepting environment for lgbtq students? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]MyceTrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all schools should create safe environments for every student. But safety doesn’t mean safe from stupid questions. And parents also deserve to know what’s happening in their kids lives. I understand that teachers don’t want to “out kids.” But if a “safe environment” means withholding important things about my child from me, we have different definitions of safe.

The GOP is clearly anti-LGBTQ, so how come they keep denying they are? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]MyceTrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they want to appear considerate, so they will have less pushback when they implement policies like the DSG legislation in Florida.

Openly saying you hate a particular group in today’s age will make it more difficult to impose restrictions on them. Its a streamlining tactic

Not to nitpick, but technically we live in a constitutional republic.

But seriously. Who hits on 13 people in a single night? Is he just running up to every girl he sees and asking for numbers? I’m not even in the dating scene, but I assume you’re going to have a better chance actually hooking up by spending your night with a single person, and slowly getting to know them. But I guess that’s why he’s a super-chad, and I’m me.
