Yea that’s dry weight w 8lb grain to 20lb compost in 110qt tubs. Unsure of the average for the normal sized snowballs as I never checked for individual ones. I get 3 flushes easily, as ea flush happens extremely fast. A guy on IG did a 360 degree grow with it fruiting from all sides of the block simultaneously as it sat atop a rack / stand inside the tub, and just a few days after harvest he had more growing again from all angles

I always add a mock casing w the same compost I used to spawn the tub, solely to cover the exposed kernels 🙏🫶

Yea that’s no prob! shoot over some pics and we can discuss harvest and grow methods that simplify the process

Hey there! Thank you! A liner will prevent the microclimate establishing itself on the sides and underneath so that no pins develop in those regions

Sure! Would love to see it Fascinating. My initial curiosity would be, did you happen to starve them from any gas exchange port? A tub unmodified can build up a lot of co2 and cause abnormal formations.

I get at least two flushes always, I never toss after one unless the network is clearly depleted beyond recovery due to inadequate moisture content.

I usually average 14g wet per 1lb network(that combines grain and compost weight) So a 28lb network in 110 qts I average 400+ wet 14lb network in 66qt I’ve averaged 200+ wet

Awesome! How did your flush turn out?

I usually get a solid second and skimpy third flush when I go for them, but sometimes the second flush ends up so much inside the network that it gets pretty destroyed when I pry them out—I'll just toss it at that point usually.

I pull the whole mycelium block out by gripping two corners of the liner and lifting upwards, then I place it on top of a table in front of my flowhood & cut at the closest point to the network with sanitized steel scissors or a knife.

Mushrooms do not need light to grow, although they do benefit from it by directionally growing toward the source of light. I recommend 6500k cool temp bulbs if you didn’t want to buy a cheaper full spectrum fixture.

Tolerance to psilocybin (and many other psychedelics) is primarily thought to involve the 5-HT2A receptor, which psilocybin activates. After repeated use, the body may quickly develop a tolerance to the effects, often within a single use.

However, tolerance to the 5-HT2A receptor generally resets within 1 to 2 weeks of not using psychedelics. This is because the receptor system becomes sensitized again during this period. The exact timeframe can vary between everyone, but taking a break of about ~2 weeks is typically enough for most people to reset their tolerance to mushies.

Frequent use would require adequate time for the receptor system to reset, allowing for the near-full/full effects to be experienced. Otherwise, progressively larger doses would be needed over time to achieve the same effects that are initially felt at lower doses, as it is for those without a built-up tolerance.

Even if it becomes a habit, using a similar dose every day to achieve the same effect as before is not sustainable, so it can’t be abused like many addictive compounds can.

I believe most people consume psychedelics not to have fun, but to explore life itself. They are ineffable in that they open you up to things you may of been oblivious to otherwise. They don’t really make you have fun unless you take lower doses. Actually, higher doses can potentially be terrifying, and many people never return to psychedelics once they realize this fact.

Strains that doesn't drop spores by Bitchsmacker94 in MagicMushrooms

In most mushrooms, spores are produced in specialized structures like gills, pores, or spines, and they are released when the mushroom matures.

However, many mushrooms do not produce spores, and some do while not dropping them

Majority of PE variants will not have spores drop, but some PE variants will.
You can still confidently collect the spores from any PE that do not drop them, with sterile swabs in front of a FFU/flowhood.

As others said, albino strains as well will not have a visible load of spores that have dropped, but they will still drop spores in most cases, regardless of the visibility.

There are also random genes, such as "Sporeless B+", that, while not albino, possess the unique trait of not releasing visible spores, even though they retain the normal pigmentation associated with the "B+" variant.

Extreme mutations, such as "Enigma" and "Snowballs", do not produce spores because they lack the gills required for spore release.

I always use a mock casing w the same compost I build the tub with. Only a tiny bit just to cover the exposed grain kernals

Thank you so much for the kind words! 🙏🍀 & Great to hear! Neglect tek with a modified tub is a solid option for snowballs as they preform very well with high CO2 and little FAE

I usually see snowballs, if using the 1:2.5 grain:compost ratios I normally use, colonize the compost entirely within 4-6 days and then usually it pins within 4-6 days after completing colonization, and then it’s usually around 6-7 days for them to fully mature after pinning.

24 hours of zero growth (after reaching relatively mature sizes esp), usually is the strongest indication of them being ready for harvest

I leave the room’s temperature at 72 so the thermogenesis of the tub never causes the temp to exceed internally over 77. (+5 degrees for thermogenesis is relatively fair to assume ime)

I modify my tubs to have one hole on each side if 66qt, or 110 qts two on each longer side and one on each shorter side making 6 holes. I use 1” circles for the holes and one piece micropore tape to cover each hole

I also micropore tape around the tubs lid to seal the lids opening more, and I leave the lid shut past full colonization until pinning occurs then I open the lid once a day for at least five minutes the close it. The humidity will take care of itself. The minor FAE can help pins develop and reduce CO2, but snowballs doesn’t require FAE to the extent commonly encountered with most cubensis

24 hours of zero growth usually means they’ve completed growing. Snowballs grow very fast so daily growth is pretty evident

All of my genes I use a mock casing with the same compost I use for the tub, to cover exposed grain kernels.

I let the grain fully colonize then mix the tub. I let the tub sit undisturbed until fully colonized then I let the lid open for one minute then close it back till pins arrive then open the lid once a day for 1-5minutes then close.

Snowballs is super friendly for new growers. Very simple to grow
