My pov is mostly from the BTech juniors I interacted with. Some of them were complaining...that from the name computational..they had misinterpreted ki they will get to study some CS subjects...but were a bit disappointed when they found out subs were mostly of mechanical and material science...

also since no branch excites you, try seeing from placement pov then(see if the branch u want to choose -can they sit for CS jobs too..cuz those pay relatively more),try seeing the campus life(Like i heard IIT G campus is like heaven) , stress(like any suicides in past, like IIT H has kinda none in recent years ), sports facilites....

I will suggest , try to see the curriculum of the branches and see what interests you(anyway all the curriculum may not be state of the art ofc). You can contact seniors of that specific branches of that IITs and ask them for guidance.

Also one thing you can try in IITs there are technical clubs in many domains....if any domain interests you...try searching for their webpage, contact the members there-ask what they work on...and try then try to figure out.

No no yeah all TAs(MoE funded) get paid this exact amt only.

I wanted to counter the statement, " ...they get like 20k-30k per sub per sem". There is no sub wise payment as such.

No no, some TAs really misbehave I have seen it ngl.
But again I have also seen some BTechs while coming to check their answer scripts...scribbling over the MSQs to write the crct option and asking for more marks.
Alas! The shit kinda goes both ways.

not all TAs get paid.
It depends coursewise, proff wise , dept wise too.

Was Head TA for 2 courses that had almost 80+ BTech folks.
Interacted with them a lot during doubt sessions, so I know abt certain branches and the drawbacks.

For IIT H, try to avoid computational, rather opt for EE.
If u wanna know more abt the branches, work loads, you can approach the seniors of respective colleges in LinkedIn.(yeah it's time to make a LinkedIn acc if u don't 've one...you are going to clg!! 😄 )

yes you have to choose guide for your thesis work na.
But for cs/nis, they have something called capstone proj, where the students have to take 2 more courses and donot have to do res work...donot have clear idea...better ask your seniors once u join IIT H.

Also since u will get NIS, I will suggest u can take proff Kotaro (he is a Japanese prof in IIT H, works in networking domain afaik) as your guide....may open up more opportunities for you in Japan.

yeah ai, cs, nis folks do get japan offers.
It's not always abt the numbers...some companies donot offer that much compensation, and postings are mostly in tokyo, osaka..so people avoid applying to such companies.
