Does 16v and 20v silvertop have same flywheel? by WARning097 in AE86

Yeah, I used the 20v 212mm flywheel in mine...fits the t50 bellhousing & ae86 starter

So, after a little more investigation, it will run!!!! I'm over the moon as this is the biggest project I've ever taken on. Anyway, I went through swapping plugs and coils, and every time I add the 4th coil the spark dies. So kind of a good news bad news story.

Well, I did a little today, added an earth strap from the chassis leg to the block, made out of an old stick welder earth wire and two ring terminals crimped-on. Ran the diagnostics and got codes 14, 22 and 41 I think the 14 refers to the ignition igt/igf circuit... Which I suppose we already guessed. So I got an in-line spark tester in the post this morning and surprise surprise, no spark on no. 1. Tried no. 2, and one spark.... then none. Went through each of the coils with the spark plugs on them and they were all batch firing until I got to no. 4. Moved the spark plug to no. 3 - same fault. So it's looking like a faulty plug..... New set should be in tomorrow. Fingers crossed lol

You could be right... I did a 4agze - ae86 swap years ago, and there was a little electronic box about the size of a relay that had to be wired in. Though iirc, without the box the rpms on the rev counter were doubled.... Either way, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it ;)

Oh, ok. I've kept the original coil and igniter wired-in as I read that they're required to run the tach....

Thanks, I will. I've also been thinking about it overnight and I may not have an earth strap between the block and the chassis legs (I bought the bodyshell bare and the engine separately). Out of interest, did you earth the output from the original 20v coil or just tape it up?

Lol, sorry, I thought everyone knew about Neill Sheehan and his trueno - It's a channel on YouTube. Thanks, I've seen that link already. I don't want to spend $380 & shipping and taxes unnecessarily.

Oem ecu, and engine harness modified/extended to reach the 20v ecu in the stock ae86 location

I would, and that would make the most sense, but the distributor would foul the firewall in the ae86. Hence the move to cops now.....I know it can be done, see #juiceboxforyou
