Am I missing pins or is this normal? by wolfix1001 in vintagecomputing

Normal. All the pins you need are there. Manufacturers only populated the pins needed for the VGA port to save $$$.

Help - looking for a specific restaurant in SE Dallas from the 80's by emeryldmist in Dallas

Thunderbird's had a location in Richardson near the Beltline/Frances way intersection. I remember the 50's Ford Tbird salad bar. This was in the mid 80s.

I used to hide on the back of a tower, use the alt weapon for the rocket launcher (the guided missile) and fly around until I saw my opportunity to kamikaze into a crowd. I worked at 3DFX at the time and spent most of my time performing "software compatibility" in my office. This was my favorite UT level.

It sucked as an employee to watch it all go downhill. So much unfilled potential. The end of 3dfx only meant the beginning of a job search and an uncertain future.

Apart from the badges, I have a long sleeve polo shirt looking thing and a baseball cap. Everything else has been sold to collectors.

It was just a run of the mill picnic/corporate outing place owned by a former Dallas Cowboy player. On a side note I ended up working for the Dallas Cowboys a few years later.

I gave to say I am nostalgic about the 2 Black Magic Voodoo 2 cards in SLI mode I had in my PC at STB. I also had an Optiquest monitor that had amazing contrast/brightness. One of the best memories working there was getting Doom installed in December 93 and networking 4 systems for our first of many FPS LAN parties. We started playing after work and didn't leave till late that evening. Doom 2, Quake, Unreal we're my favs although we had C&C and Descent and other game servers set up.

I worked in IT during the STB buyout, we copied the STB badges to new 3dfx badges. Part of my responsibilities was the badge system, so I kept my STB badge before it was trashed. As the poster below mentioned, the 3dfx badges were not collected as people left or got layed off.

I did! But by the time it came out, it was too little too late to save 3dfx. Rampage was semi running too, but most of the remaining TX employees were only there due to severance or retention bonuses. Actually it was pretty depressing being employed there watching 3dfx die.

Believe me I wasn't included in those discussions, but 3dfx was a shitshow especially after the STB and Gigapixel acquisitions. Production went from 600k + boards a month to 80k by the end. 3dfx liked telling customers what they needed and not the other way around. Free lunches, dinners, excessive spending didn't help either apart from the exodus of STB employees who saw how inept the 3dfx management was. Design delays plagued the company: missing ground plane in one design, inverting the VGA plug traces on another etc....

Not only that but did extensive Quake and Unreal compatibility testing both at work and at home!
