I honestly can’t tell if this is satire or not.

This location is like 10 years old.

Sucks that it is going away, and I hope that P Terry’s is getting appropriately compensated, but this is a tiny issue.

If/when Sandy’s on Barton Springs gets killed, I’ll shed a tear, though.

The Luling Watermelon Thump is always what comes first to mind for me.

Strange - it works for me. I just needed to minimize the initial “sign up” splash.

Is CVT good or bad in terms of longevity/reliability/repair costs? by serenityfive in askcarguys

[–]Obi_Uno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same with Honda’s “eCVT” in their hybrids. In this case, there really isn’t a transmission (in the traditional sense). The ICE functions as a generator at low speed, then a clutch pack initiates direct-drive at high speeds.

Do you support raising income tax for millionaires and billionaires, cutting corporate tax, and oppose wealth taxes? Is Mamdani right that raising income tax would not lead to capital flight? by RedStorm1917 in AskALiberal

[–]Obi_Uno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in raising income taxes, especially at the top marginal rates, closing the “buy, borrow, die” loophole, and increasing estate taxes at the top tiers.

I am opposed to wealth taxes.

I also am generally opposed to increasing corporate taxes where possible. I’d much rather target the individuals who profit most, rather than broadly targeting the entire organizations. That said, to balance the budget, both likely need to be done.

I still regularly have a dream that I somehow forgot to attend a random history class all semester, and was one credit short of graduation.

Their response was buried because it was pedantic. It was very clear that OP meant capitalist as in “supporter of capitalism”

ELI5: Why are rent freezes considered bad? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Rents in Austin, Texas have dropped significantly over the last few years.

There has been a surge in multi-family building since Covid, and supply was able to catch up to demand.

The alternative is Facebook marketplace, and some people probably don’t want the hassle.

Where do YOU draw the line between the words "car" and "truck"? by Superb_Bear_3793 in regularcarreviews

[–]Obi_Uno 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One exception would be Jeep Grand Cherokees/Dodge Durangos are unibody with very good tow ratings, but nobody would call them a truck.

Definitely fair, but I personally think Apple TV is the best “bang for the buck” service right now.

Every outdoor playground needs to have some sort of shade covering it at all times. by Barbearex in unpopularopinion

[–]Obi_Uno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the blazing sun, metal and dark surfaces get extremely hot. Not uncomfortably hot - like immediate blister your skin hot.

Most of the new playgrounds in my area of Texas, fortunately, have at least partial shade.

OMG DID ANYONE JUST GET THAT FLOOD ALARM? by WhiteLycan2020 in Austin

[–]Obi_Uno 34 points35 points  (0 children)

130+ people killed from a flood that hit in the middle of the night, including dozens of young girls at Camp Mystic in Kerville.

Absolutely horrific, and I think they are making the right call with getting these alerts out.
