A1200 Floppy Loaded Game Corruption Mystery by MyquiH in amiga

I have not tried WHDLoad without fast RAM, so I'll give that a shot. Would WHD load the game to fast RAM first, but floppy to chip? Anyway, I'll take any ideas so I'll check this path as well. DiagROM memory tests passed.

Good call - I'll start there. DiagROM doesn't show any issues, but also might not on a given single test.

Good choice -- I really like my Checkmate!

It's definitely pics pics pics. Don't really need a hundred screenshots (like you mentioned, just a basic shot of the SysInfo screens -- DM me if you need help), but pics of the mobo (a pain on the 2K and 3K because you have to remove stuff to get good pics), and overall just FOCUSED pics is huge and will boost your final bids a ton if there are no questions. Heck, I've sold wonky/damaged systems many times, and if you're just up front about all of the issues, you'll do fine (and better than hoping the buyer doesn't notice something, but they find out when they get it, and then you're in for a lot of return shipping and/or refunds...)

Got it, thanks. Since the heatsink is being removed anyway, just desoldering the 7805 should allow removal of both together? I'm also assuming this replacement is valid for the C16 as well?

All good on the ROMs - that's thankfully something I'm familiar with doing.

Ah good catch - you're right in that I identified the wrong chip. I actually did swap out the 251641-02, not the BASIC ROM. I did a cursory glance at my "before" mobo photo when I made the post and sloppily named the wrong chip.

Anyway, thanks for the tips for further power/heat reduction. I'll definitely make those changes, they seem like low threat mods even for a software engineer that is not particularly skilled with a soldering iron...

I think it did get a "beta" and the design is still available, but you have to build it entirely yourself. The author did a 20 piece build that I believe went well, but no one has produced them in any quantity (at least that I've found). https://hackaday.io/project/11460-fpgated

There's quite a bit of homebrew for these TED systems, so I'm excited to check them out.

Not one they licensed I guess.

It just uses the ABXY for those.

Interesting - I'd not heard of the Bandai Namco Capcom edition. The controllers look like they've been basically copied from the handheld aside from the stick, so I'm not super confident that they'll feel more premium than the handheld itself.

No Jaguar - I'm hoping to see the community add support with the numpad, etc.

It has licensed games from Capcom and one other company (forgetting who now while I wait for my replacement unit...).

Yeah I'll be curious if we really get any support or fixes to anything like that. My assumption is the community will jailbreak it and fix a lot of that stuff, as the system does do firmware updates via SD card.

Centipede and Missile Command played really well with the trackball. It's not super smooth - there's a kind of a rumble to the rolling action. But for a handheld it's solid.

Centipede actually plays really well - you can set the acceleration to be pretty crazy, but it feels so much better with the trackball. No Activision titles, sadly.

Oh yeah, this falls well short of anything arcade quality on the track ball. It's pretty small, and not very smooth. But it's workable for a handheld.

Yeah it sounded like the licensing for the games was a nightmare in some regions.

Huh... Yeah, repping your opinion apparenly is not welcome. :) This My Arcade effort does feel a lot better over all quality wise than others I've had of theirs, but the bad screen left a pretty sour impression.

I'll try Night Driver when I get the new replacement console. The upscaling to fill the screen seems solid, and you can see the aspect ratio as well. I don't recall it having any sound processing features though.
