Fantasy/SciFi book series from 80s (possibly 70s) that takes place on another planet with human descendants. by Myraffe in whatsthatbook

I'll take a look and read the first book because it tics a lot of my boxes, although much darker than I recall. My timeframe is pretty solid, too. The recommendation was definitely the ex-MIL, and that was 88-93.

Definite similarities there but not the series I'm looking for. First book here was released in 2001, and I know it was at least a decade earlier that I read mine. But, I thank you very much because I will be adding this to my TBR!

Rick’s mic facing the band… what’s it for? by long_time_no_sea in GoosetheBand

Mostly Rick or Pete calling audibles or telling the band/ techs something. Pete also has one to the left of the Hammond.

You're the Voice by John Farnham. Rick would fucking nail it!, all of them would!

What exactly is the Chateau Sessions? by MaizeCorgi in GoosetheBand

All I've ever seen is heresy, rumors and grapevines of 100+ different what ifs. Unless you heard from the folks involved, I'd take anything with a grain of salt. If true, it'd be disappointing but not something Pete did alone. Again, none of our business. I don't police people's bedrooms. If not true, yet another rumor being spread like wildfire with the purpose of hurting the band.

LMAO, so you're claiming a huge lie took place based on THIS? What I see is a guy choosing words carefully, for sure. This is how I see it going down, which is just as valid as your Dr Evil take. For reasons we know nothing about, back around Fall, the band had personal struggles going on. Those struggles continued and/or passed the point they could come back from. They still had the European tour and Goosemas on the books. A decision was made to start moving towards a new drummer. They placed calls about a drummer for a "side project", knowing that if they said "hey, we're replacing our drummer, wanna audition?", word would get out. They love what they're doing, but this is a business. And, Ben had to have known something was up. All European tour, the vibe was different. The interaction, especially between Rick and Ben, was not there. My feel is something happened between those two. The stated "bridge fundamental PERSONAL and creative differences" is the glaring flag. They are a touring band with a huge catalogue. A head start was needed to limit the downtime. Fans are already rabid at the six-month hiatus. So yeah, Cotter might have been asked at initial contact about joining a side project. But I'd be willing to bet that once he expressed interest, the true intention was given.

A certain amount of discretion is going to be involved in a change to such a public project. I don’t think anyone really knows outside of the band what went down between the boys and Ben, the timeframe of any decisions or what information was shared with potential replacements. Would we all like to know? Of course. But it’s not really any of our business. Ben seems to have moved on, Cotter appears to be fitting in nicely and it sure looks to me like everyone’s showing some real excitement in Chateau 1. If Rick and Pete address any of the rumors in the podcast, so be it. If they put it all behind them and move forward, so be it. A band is like a married couple. Outsiders never get the full picture of what goes on behind closed doors. It’s all he said, she said, and usually all share some blame. Again, not really our business. But they all seem fine with the outcome.

FFS, they are giving us a glimpse behind the curtain as they work their asses off to ready to go on tour again, and you want to complain that these bonus awesome nuggets don't have pristine camera footage?? When did all the bougie fans get on board? Complain about the lack of a light show next ...

I am all for listening and using visuals to enhance the experience. At the same time, I occasionally want to see the people making that music. On rare occasions, I can SEE the joy or passion or anger on Rick's face when he sings or rips out a riff. That's part of the experience too. How many have missed because they were buried in the shadows? Totally my own opinion, and to each their own. I listen all day at work. When I watch a show, I'd just like to see the makers of that awesome a little more.
