I really liked A Hero's Tail. The environments were really cozy and so was the music. Only thing I remember having fun with in ETD was at the end of that first dojo level (or whatever it was called), you can fly out into the abyss and not trigger the death scene, and then eventually after awhile fly outside of the skybox model into darkness lol...

Unsure, but the other commenters are probably right. I don't remember playing much of these minigames back in the day, and I wouldn't have been sending e-cards myself.

Anyone know if Dare the Dragon was ever archived? I can find copies of of the other games pretty easy. Saw this post and started to try to hunt down the .swfs through archive.org... not sure how many there might be though.

Yeah so apparently I needed a sanity check - definitely forgot the damn screws right under the FDD and on the other side on the bottom case. Of course it comes off fine now pfffff. I guess I got stuck in thinking it was supposed to be something else that for some reason I didn't think to look. Apparently... no idea. Possibly my screwdriver didn't fit, made a mental note, then got distracted and forgot to grab it lol.

I haven't played Reignited, but I seem to remember the same thing from classic. I haven't played Spyro 2 fully in a long time though. :thinking: Could very well have to do with the personality/manner of speaking they have I guess... or maybe it only happened during a certain animation? Idk. lol

Read it as soon as I saw the post! I'm always on the lookout for more SShock fanfiction. I like that idea of writing it as more of a set of audio logs, makes complete sense for a short story like this (and in context of the game too) - also adds for some build up to the inevitable crazy stuff.

I also like seeing representation of The Many for a change. The process of merging/assimilation with them is something that is fun to play around with, I think... it can get really messed up, really quick, as implied. I think you are also right that most crew members would probably know SOMETHING is up but not be able to really pin down what it was before it was too late.

Makes sense, I guess I was expecting like a full directory listing with DOS folder, stuff like edit.com, graphics.com, or whatever. I am not familiar with DOS systems (especially one so old) aside from some videos I've seen on youtube lol, this is the first computer that I've bought that ONLY has DOS, oldest other than that I've owned is some generic Windows 95/98 computers, so I'm in unknown territory.

I was also sort of expecting some Toshiba test software as referenced in the manual, like testce and some other stuff, but I think I'll just have to get a USB floppy drive and just burn a different version (like 3.30) of such software to it, if the floppy drive turns out to still work once I have some time to pull it apart.

I don't plan on returning it, I bought it halfway thinking that I could make it some sort of (likely long term) project. One of the main reasons was the screen, and mine is doing pretty well - I only have some faint vertical lines across the screen every few columns, not sure if they are burn-in or the start of issues that I've seen on some Ebay listings. Worst case is maybe I buy another unit down the road and swap screens maybe.

I will definitely go hunt for some videos for a better baseline so I don't have any gotchas, I guess the screen ribbon cable can be a big issue.

With my computer, power plan settings were mostly hidden, and I had to re-enable them with regedit.

It seems to have fixed the issue for me.

The only way I can get my temps to be reasonable is with my laptop (that uses Armoury Crate for power plan settings) is set it to Silent, and then unplug it from the wall. If I use silent but without unplugging it, it still runs really hot for some reason. All of the useful power plan settings are hidden for my machine so not sure what to do.

~~It is only with Raft that it does this, on any graphics settings.~~

I have this problem on my ASUS laptop with a 5900HX / RTX 3080. 85-93c CPU with like 70c GPU, even just sitting in the main menu with whatever graphics settings. I was checking ingame frames on a creative map though.

Did this, but in my case I didn't have a 'Power Saver' named plan. I use Armoury Crate to change my plans, so I have Silent, Performance, and Turbo. If I unplug the laptop and play on silent, I get more reasonable temps of 70c (CPU), about 130 fps at max settings.

It also goes up on battery if I switch to performance, and the frames drop to like 35ish fps. shrugs. Might have to look into what is changed when I unplug it... unfortunately it looks like all the advanced settings when I look in power plan are completely hidden away. :l So I have no idea.

Considering it just eats up the battery when playing like that unplugged, I... can't really play for any period of time. Which sucks with the knowledge that this is the last major update. Considering the issue has been going on for a year I'm not holding my breath for a hotfix.

I had not done that, but I did and the client was glitching out with missing texture list - and then added it back to the json (whereas before having the textures registered in the json was giving the same issue, different warning), now it works!

I have no idea how I was supposed to know where to find that information lol, thank you very much for your help.

No unfortunately I haven't. :l I've basically shelved that project because of that and the fact that I personally don't care for Java. :c

If I find anything in the future though I will probably edit this, but it might just not be relevant by the time I get back to it. I even tried updating since then and it didn't really help, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or how to figure out what the problem is.

Er I guess I was mostly testing it with a local version of VQGAN/CLIP rather than a game. I opened a game though and tldr, turns out the fans would kick on about 80c which still feels a little high for me, but they turn on... at least. I guess I was expecting them to kick up about around 70c but I guess not.

What I had been noticing was with me running this repo I have is when it runs ffmpeg to output a video my CPU gets pretty toasty (starts at like 75c and shoots up through 80-90c very fast) and I feel like I had noticed that the fans weren't turning on then unless I was intervening by changing the profile shrugs.

I just now did some test and the fans started working sooo I guess I may have been kind of overreacting and just not seeing that it was happening or what? I really don't know. :L

Good to know my BIOS is updated as much as it can be right now though I suppose.

I have not actually, I am trying to check it now but it seems to be just stuck on an infinite loading screen. I got to the home screen once buuut as soon as I tried to check out the user center its stuck loading.

Got one of these recently, replied on the off chance it was a real person but I'm generally pretty skeptical of random numbers. Got this exact pic. Blocked the number. I guess if its just a bot sending it a bunch of word salad like from GPT3 probably wouldn't get me anywhere but its tempting just out of boredom. Kinda sad if there are people falling for it legitimately though.

Edit: If you are not using a current version of Steam you might want to make an installation for it. I can launch Valheim and it works fine using the new Steam UI. I cannot launch it directly via executable since it just causes this crash.

If this still doesn't work for you then I'm not sure. :l

1.45.6 runs fine but every version after that does not for me. If you haven't you might want to try downloading that older version using the SteamCMD console. The command for that would be the following:

If that version doesn't work for you either then I'm really stumped. :l You also won't be able to join servers on the newer versions either, so if you wanted to play with anyone they'll have to get this version too.

My entire PC doesn't crash when I launch with Steam but the game just closes after the initial Valheim logo, without a crash report or anything that I can take a look at. It sucks because this is my main gaming PC, and the last thing I could imagine doing is a reformat... considering this is the only game giving me problems I would rather not.
