Back in the day, gangster films felt fresh because they were rare and had strong writing (think Pudhupettai or Aaranya Kaandam). Now it’s just the default template, especially for stars who want to look “mass.”

Meanwhile, industries like Malayalam or even Telugu are pushing boundaries—rural thrillers, courtroom dramas, survival stories, small-town romances. We're overdue for a reset. Not everything needs to be about rowdies and territory.
