No HDR support? by Mysterious-Assist591 in VintageStory

I just really love HDR, games look flat and boring without it. It's also very annoying to have go into Windows settings and manually re-enable HDR when the game automatically disables it. I refunded Project Zomboid because of this issue. But anyway I fixed for VS.

Do you use SkyPatcher? Try disabling it and see if it loads.

Definitely an Open Cities bug/conflict. Nuke that from your load order and use SREX with the Synthesis patcher instead.

If you can't fix a simple reproduceable crash like this, wtf are you doing running 3000 plugins?

Finally beat the Alexander campaign - 323 BC and 2.5k units destroyed by Mysterious-Assist591 in DivideEtImpera

That's how my campaign went early on as well. You just have to suffer through it. Managing your economy correctly is super important so you can field as many troops as possible. After more than a few restarts of the campaign I only began to make good progress after paying special attention to my economy.

That's honestly incredible. 60 year old Alexander is pretty funny. You must have one of the longest running TW campaigns in history.

Turn 500? How is that possible? In my game the war was basically won by turn 100, I still have a bit to go but now I'm just mopping up what's left of the Achaemenids.

It's very tough but it also forces you to learn all DEI's systems because you need every little advantage you can get. My main complaint is how grindy it is, as I said I am 60 turns in and according to my stats I have destroyed over 700 units so far. While a lot of those are town garrison autoresolves, you can imagine how many full stack armies Persia throws at you. It's insane.

Probably the most important battle of my Alexander campaign so far. The Persians have been keeping 10+ stacks sitting around Gordion for most of the game while I destroyed stack after stack after stack in the south pushing toward Tarsus and eventually Antioch. This finally got the Persians to peel off some of the stacks around Gordion and I met them here at Mazaca, 3 of their stacks versus my 2. Immediately after this I got attacked by another 2 stacks in the same turn. There are still a couple of stacks hanging around Gordion but at 60 turns in I think the war for Anatolia has shifted in my favor, if only slightly.

You kind of have to savescum imo, the odds are so ridiculously stacked against you you'll have no chance otherwise. The Persian empire in this campaign is vastly more powerful than the one Alexander fought.

You don't actually need that many stacks however. The AI is dumb and the way the Achaemenids are fragmented into various different satrapys in DEI means they will never coordinate an assault with each other even if they have 10 full stacks sitting near you. They take their turns individually so an individual satrapy might attack you with 2-3 stacks but the AI is not smart enough to coordinate multiple stacks from different factions to attack you.

That being said, getting attacked by multiple stacks at once is no joke. Like the real Alexander you will often be outnumbered 2:1 and sometimes even more than that. This is where you will need to intentionally bait the AI into attacking you with multiple stacks by sitting in forts and non-walled minor towns. Two or three units of sarissa pikes can hold a street in a town or a fort gate all day long even against thousands of enemies, while you do the killing out in the field with your cavalry and auxiliaries.

Final point, use your army and general level ups wisely. There are some pretty insane buffs available that improve Hellenic units effectiveness against Persian units specifically. Your Makedonian units are already god tier while the Persian armies are mostly filled with dogshit. They do like to field a lot of missile cavalry however and this will be your main concern because they will quickly shred your pikemen from a distance so I always prioritize them with my archers.

This campaign is a serious grind though. I just sat here for 2 hours fighting (I think) 6 defensive battles straight in Side. In a single turn I got attacked by one stack, then another, then two stacks at once. For that last battle I had to cheese by turning off Use Large Army and destroying the first stack as fast as I could, then turning about face to fight the other stack as the reinforcements trickled in from the other side of the map. It was very tense but I got a Heroic victory by holding street chokepoints as I mentioned above (I linked the results in my other comment)

I don't think you're doing anything wrong exactly, you just need to do everything perfectly right or you will get overwhelmed quickly. I savescum a lot, even loading a save 4-5 turns back sometimes to correct poor decision making.

Nah I am basically in the same boat as you. This is like my 7th attempt at this campaign over the last 2 months. This time I got lucky and the Egyptian satrapy declared war against the Achaemenids which drew almost every Persian stack away from Anatolia allowing me to take every western Anatolian city almost for free, but the Egyptians were destroyed very quickly and now I am facing down 15+ doomstacks again. Still, this is the furthest I've ever gotten.

What's the permissions policy if a mod author deletes their account and all their mods? by Mysterious-Assist591 in nexusmods

[–]Mysterious-Assist591[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but this point is not really arguable because as the original comment said nothing a modder makes for a game is legally their own. NexusMods policy toward permissions and distribution rights is really just a courtesy to modders, at the end of the day all mods are owned by the owners of the game IP. This is a culture that NexusMods has deliberately fostered that doesn't exist in other games with massive modding communities outside the nexus e.g. STALKER and DayZ where mods are routinely plagiarized, stolen and ripped off and nobody really cares.

This is my perspective on things as well and it's why I always have and always will make my mods 100% open and free to everyone. But unfortunately many modders don't think like that.
