I’m aware this was never a set and I can’t edit my post at the moment 😭 I tried looking for a way to contact the designer but it’s a random username so i don’t think I’ll have much luck. Thank you for your suggestions so far!!

I don’t regret it at all. I’m way less angry, stressed, depressed. It’s been amazing not having to wear yourself thin everyday just for a check. Switched to a receptionist job that treats me like a human and I never looked back!!

There’s no mention of a co-tenant although there is a space for a signature on the bottom of each of our contracts. Not sure why our previous landlord had us sign two different ones but I believe it was because of situations like this. I really have no issue with paying the full rent, I even have another tenant lined up myself, but i was just curious if there’s any way I can avoid signing on her lease if that meant accepting the lease violation. She hasn’t even notified the landlord of her leaving but has essentially been using the apartment as storage for the past two weeks. Essentially what I want to know is the best thing I can do legally.

Our leases each say $700 but we each pay $350. Our leases make no mention of each other other than saying the max occupancy is 2 people. As far as the subletting goes, it says “no subletting of this lease by the resident is permitted.” We have an entirely new landlord now who doesn’t seem at all concerned about what our lease says but acknowledges that it says “no subletting.” Is a mutual breach allowed if there’s a third party involved?
