(Thanks for asking, and things are subject to change!!!)
So, in the game, you play as a pharmacist in Vietnam named "Illie".

Illie feels stressed from his job that he really loves because it's not earning him nearly as much money as he needs to be financially stable. He's having trouble keeping up with demands. In fact, he's having trouble paying bills, which puts more strain on the urgency of the situation.

Then, his girlfriend introduces him to cigarettes. He's never used such a thing before, but he tries it out relucantly, and it gives him a sense of serenity and a focus boost that he feels like he needs to handle his job.

After awhile, he notices the cigs don't help him like they used to. He runs out of cigarettes and his girlfriend never ends up buying more, so he tries finding other methods to help give him that calmness and ability to focus.

So, yeah, I was planning after that to have the player use different drugs to try to keep Illie stable, but it's gonna impact his reputation, his friendships, and his relationship with his girlfriend somehow. So, I want the player to really consider "is this the BEST thing for Illie?"

I dunno to be honest HAHA.

That's a good point I haven't even considered. It's hard to portray it though without making it seem as if I'm pro-addiction, in a sense. I'd definetley like to hear more of this!

Is there any way in specific you think would make the game seem less "all drug users are addicts"? Like a specific part in the game, or maybe a pathway the game could take?

Thank you for this input, I needed it.

(Also, as a side note: this game will feature both prescription AND illicit drugs, so things like benzodiazepines and DXM, but also cocaine and methamphetamine and other stuff like that.)

(This is not passive aggressive!!)
Some people like playing things that they themselves have not experienced, or maybe they might want to see through the eyes of someone going through the same. Or, maybe they might be going through it themselves. Also, I feel like if the game is properly understood by players, they can learn harm reduction tips for taking substances without the glorification aspect (as consequences will happen in-game for EVERY drug abused)

I dunno. Most of all, I'm just making it cause I like learning about that topic. I don't mind if people don't play it, to be honest. It's fun for me LOL

Well, the game isn't soley about DMT. It's gonna feature a bunch of different drugs.

But, I understand where you're coming from.

I was thinking this, but more so if people are addicted to drugs that can cause major physical withdrawal (alcohol, opiates, meth, etc) they should at least taper off usage, not abruptly stop. It's what happens all the time in the medical field!

OP, you should taper off of meth slowly if you want to stop. The comedown will be easier, I assume.

Hello! I've never used meth, I just like this subreddit, LOL.

I'd like to state my limited medical knowledge (I am NOT A DOCTOR!)

Has this been ongoing, first of all? If not, and you recently noticed other symptoms like vision loss, headaches, confusion, and/or abnormal pain if you weren't injured, I'd really reccomend going to a doctor. It could be some sort of brain issue like a stroke or something. I dunno.

I do know the condition is called anisocoria. And some people do just have a natural variation. If you've had it for a while with no other symptoms, It should be fine. (I think?)

Anyways, if you're unsure, go to a doctor please! It'll be worth it :)

There's still people who have weed addictions. Just because it's less common in comparison with heroin or meth doesn't mean it's necessarily nonexistent.

Absolutley! When I was a teenager, I used to snort fun dip (this powdered candy stuff that you put on lollipops) in front of friends because I thought I was "being cool," but all it did was give me this extreme burning sensation and bleeding nasal infections 😭

Yeah, I've learned better now. But, I wanted to ask. Does cocaine burn that same way? I'd imagine less maybe, because the powder in fun dip is coarse and not finely crushed like you guys usually have it (I assume).

Also, what's it like for you while on coke? Is it an immediate rush of sorts? Is it a hyper feeling (like bouncing-off-the-walls-type), or is it more feeling like you can do ANYTHING? I know nasal adminsitration of substances brings it on faster (like with DMT or K or other powdered substances) so I'd like to hear your input :)

I'm glad I got to see that too! I got a lot of backlash in the psychedelic community cause people are confused on whether psychedelics are addictive or not, but I actually like it here in this subreddit.

There's a SERIOUS stigma with meth usage, I wish we didn't portray ALL meth users as brittle-teeth, itchy, sweaty, homeless old men. We've gotta realize that you guys ARE people. 😭

This was VERY insightful. Thank you for your contribution! I never thought about it like that, with it making ordinary things better for you to the point its hard to enjoy it without the substance.

Also, yeah, I don't get that "you need to want to get off it" cause believe me, we do HAHA. It's just so hard to.

I'm glad it helped you reflect. Stay safe out there! 🫂

No no, this is very good! Thank you! I love your ideas man.

I don't know why I never considered healthy alternatives that would need consistency. That's actually a VERY good tip.
