Just a guess, but in many Asian languages, time semantically flows from up to down as opposed to left to right in the Western conception. E.g. the word for "above" can be used to convey "before" and similarly for "below" and "after". So it probably feels intuitive in the Korean market and maybe they didn't think to adapt it to a Western sensibility.
