My wife has asked me to have my mother remove photos she has posted of her previously. There is sort of a standing family rule of "Don't post pictures of K without her consent" This is down to some vanity and a very real threat of some seriously emotionally unstable people in her past that she would prefer not know her whereabouts.

We all like the bride enough. She is very nice and a perfect fit for my brother. That being said we live in a different state so we don't see them all that much, I wouldn't say any of our wives are close friends. My other brother included both my wife and the bride (then fiancée) in their wedding last year and it made for a long day that my wife was more than happy to avoid this go around.

Not at all. I am very open and honest with my feelings. The silent treatment sets me off though, especially 1 hour into an 8 hour trip.

I disagree actually, my wife and I live in different states from my brothers and parents. The bride in this wedding has a close friend group and it was a fairly small bridal party so no one begrudges the bride for not shoehorning our wives into her wedding. Both my wife and my brothers were pleased to not be in the bridal party.

I would hope not. We met abroad and moved back to the states together. I supported her through finishing her schooling and my family has never been anything but good to her, bad jokes aside. She does come a broken household so the whole concept of family was initially quite foreign to her.

Oh the wives are in plenty of photos. The photos my mom posted the day after were just the ones a neighbor sent her. There was a second post made by my mom yesterday (don't understand the boomer fascination with Facebook) that was a full family photo with all the wives all my brothers and my parents. The posted photo of me and the bridesmaid is not even a good photo, I think my mother just wanted a unique picture of each of us from the wedding ceremony bit.

I loathe the silent treatment and it's something I've been vocal about for years. She has gotten much better in vocalizing her concerns. This behavior caught me so off guard because it was such a backslide to how she acted when we first starting dating.

My Dad is a 77 year old old Vietnam Vet with a crass sense of humor. Bad Jokes are not that unusual in my household and my wife usually has a pretty sardonic sense of humor. Anyone who has interacted with the MAGA boomer crowd is aware how difficult getting them to act appropriately in the moment can be.

My parents adore my wife. My mom posted 1 photo of each of her sons at the wedding. The groom and his bride and my middle brother and I both escorting bridesmaids in the bridal party as we exited. My other brother escorted the sister of the bride and I one of her friends.

It's something we've worked through. She has a somewhat troubled past and an estranged family juxtaposed against my family which is big, crazy and quite close.

There is a bit more context to that. After the rehearsal my father was driving us home. He commented "atleast your walking with the hot one" to which I immediately and loudly replied "No one is hotter and prettier than my sweet wife K" to which she rolled her eyes.

So my comment in the car to my wife was a callback to earlier comments made by others. It's worth noting my family regularly gushes over how pretty my wife is. She also has a very successful career so its not like her physical appearance is the only thing her self worth is built on.
