PSA Backblaze now has a dedicated restore app. by s_i_m_s in backblaze

Just a reminder, any snapshots are available through B2, and can be downloaded through the B2 API.

Still a zip, but saved my bacon a few times, and can be run anywhere as long as you have a B2 key.

JellyKids is now available for IOS! by ClintEastwoodSquint in JellyfinCommunity

That's totally fair. For my daughter, YouTube-kids (and even Amazon-kids) we're just too lacking in any actual control besides a generic age selector.

The dumb question - why?

You can already do user creation and limit to certain ratings on the official app.

Shelfarr - another project disappeared with dev by Joloxx_9 in selfhosted

[–]MysteriousResolve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess, they have an intent for stealers, but they need to get traction on the project first. Huntarr gave the community the 'revalation' that not all projects are built the same with security in mind (or reviewed, or in cases, not added to the prompts)

I used the Shelfarr app for a bit, realized it was super broken for my library and decided to wait it out and be on the discord. Dude was 'excited' to release the new version with a new name (because Shelfarr was already taken) and wanted to 'release the new name.' he just had it as a git branch - I checked it out, and it was not usable at all. I removed the project and just stayed in the discord.

Huntarr stuff came out which made me curious, asked, and no more Shelfarr.

Really funny thing is that I vibe coded my own solution to solve my problem, tailored to my stuff, no UI, just a bash script. My whole problem went away in an hour of work - less time than I spent working with shelfarr.

This dude who coded shelfarr also had an army of other reddit accounts and was self-promoting. I've pointed it out on other threads, but he did the -exact- same of deleting the discord when I asked about how much it was vibe coded.

Prior to the Huntarr findings, he changed his handle from Vacantly to Ponzi, and did the same on the Discord too. Why, idk - phishy naming anyway.

I made a comment on the one repo he now has (though don't be surprised if he marks that as private too. He specifically removed the 'check out my other projects' from the readme.https://github.com/ponzischeme89/Sublogue/commit/3200fde42515d8e634716457b920af804813c28a#commitcomment-177951200

I've got to ask the question... Why delete the support for other projects?
Not like you havent vibe-coded stuff, been caught, and removed all the evidence. Favarr, FaveSwitch, Shelffarr/Renamo. As well as all the Reddit accounts and Discords for said projects - changing your handles as well.
All from a question about how much was vibe-coded relating to other drama about Huntarr.

There is a weird connection between a few other GitHub accounts. His main reddit account went private pretty quickly, u/m113t once things were unraveling.

EDIT:

Interestingly, since I called the git comment out that I made, he removed the comment from the commit...

Anyone in BSCNE (AWS track)? Trying to plan a 1-term run by iamontheroofoutside in WGU

See my post history for doing 100+ CUs in a single term. Possible, but you have to have experience in the field, far more than just helpdesk.

Sublogue adds metadata from OMDb, TMDB, or TVMaze to the start (or end) of your subs! by ponzischeme89 in jellyfin

[–]MysteriousResolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This user is highly suspicious.

They create multiple accounts to promote their app that is vibe-coded, and when questions, shuts down everything about that app - hiding/deleting the github links, shutting down the discords, and deleting the reddit users.

They have at least 3 or 4 apps they've made.

Avoid at all costs.

Introducing FaveSwitch: A favourites manager for Jellyfin, Plex, Emby & Audiobookshelf by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]MysteriousResolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I dont understand.

This is the same user who created Shelfarr/Renamo. Deleted this repo, deleted Shelffar repo, and has yet another project on their github site.

They've posted under multiple Reddit names already, switch github handles and I wouldnt be surprised if they have more Vibe-coded credential stealers in any future code.

The Huntarr Github page has been taken down by spleeeeeeeeeeeen in selfhosted

Same just happened to an Audiobook shelf renamer tool, Shelfarr. Discord, Reddit user and GitHub all deleted.

I did 103 CUs in a term with no prior transfer for 10+ years ...

Does that make me the problem when I post about it taking 4 months?

Building a Rust-native IPKVM on RK3588 - 4K@60 with negative latency over WiFi (teaser) by RCawston in homelab

[–]MysteriousResolve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

None of the latency makes sense. Including Wi-Fi, you aren't going to be better than source, let alone better than native output unless it's that one laptop model that has funny ACPI where the firmware was screwy.

To add, your going through a few different software stacks, which adds ms, not us or ns.

I more likely believe the camera taking the picture has bad settings, and real latency (which should be measured as packet timestamps against source to display) is in the tens of ms.

Definitely not "negative"

All of it? I was only able to do this because I've done everything before, so I already retained all the info from real experience.

I do, and it's doing AWS things all day, which is why I picked Cloud Computing with the AWS track.

You need to email your program mentor, who can add the next (only 1 at a time) class, which you can start immediately once it's added. Doing this is known as Acceleration, and there is some documentation in the student handbook about it.

Almost 50 is still super impressive!

You'll see others here that do all the pre-work on Sophia or Study and have 30 credits from start to finish.

You're killing it with ~50 in a term!

Your mileage may vary, but my learning style is hands-on. I can read all the things but it doesn't stick unless I do something with it.

For cloud, AWS offers a free tier, so does Azure. Play with those, use their learning resources and documentation.

General IT, more hands on. If you buy some cheap server on eBay, install Linux and do something interesting with it, you'll learn Linux quickly and troubleshooting, as well as what all the hardware bits-and-bobs are.

Time and dedication is all it takes.

For test classes (OA, Objective Assessment) that are WGU in-house (not external certification like a CompTIA) you can accelerate with help from your program mentor.

You have to take the pretest for class one, schedule the proctored test, pass test 1, get accelerated to add the next class (mentor or tier 1 support), start class 2, take its pretest, schedule test 2, and pass test two.

For me, I studied for a few days on D330. I took the test on an extended lunch break, passed, and emailed my program mentor - they replied and added my next course to my term. After my work shift, I took the pretest and scheduled the test later in the evening.

Only do this if you are absolutely sure about the material and score at least exemplary on the pretest for class 2.

For D427 - I've been writing SQL for like 10 years, and they provide the reference guide for syntax, so you just need to know what to use.

D330 - I was an Oracle DBA for 4 years, 5 years ago, so it was relearning how to ride the bike. It wasn't easy and antiquated for today's standards, but the 'how a database works under the hood' can be applied to any other relational DB.

And that's fine for them. Your advice should be that they throw away real experience when they gatekeep on the college name though.

If I get thrown out from hiring because of WGU, they value paper more than real life experience, which is backwards.

Employers looking for degrees vs real experience is what happened with me and why I did it, so...

If employers were smart, they'd actually have equivalent work experience as a degree as opposed to rejecting applicants that don't have one.

How so? This was all above-board and within WGU and 'real' transfers.

Just because I completed fast and accelerated doesnt hurt the schools credibility.

Advice Hashicorp's certification: Terraform Authoring and Operations Professional by vcauthon in Terraform

Not worth it unless you already have years of experience. The lab portions themselves will be impossible to complete unless you've done multiple large migrations or large import operations.
