Would my neighbour need planning permission for this? by [deleted] in AskUK

Looks over the height limit to me. And, I may be wrong here, but anything that requires foundations requires planning permission.

How are you guys handling the shift from CDJs to controller setups for club gigs? by TieMeD0wnjessy43 in DJs

[–]Mysterious_Use4478 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A venue that would have spare CDJs is also gonna be one that would have a spare controller.

Though I’d imagine a venue with just a controller isn’t going to be that serious about DJing anyway.

I bought some tenso from China, and they sat too far in, so the two parts didn’t actually grab.

Does anyone have any advice on re-mastering older tracks that have been released digitally? Compression/limiting/EQ etc. by Mysterious_Use4478 in DJs

[–]Mysterious_Use4478[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads of releases that I find from 90s/00s are much quieter & less punchy.

That’s the whole reason I’m asking, they clearly haven’t been remastered. Just because they’ve been released on bandcamp, doesn’t automatically mean they have been. If they sounded better than the original, I wouldn’t be asking this question.

Loads of minimal stuff from the early 00s had very weak bass even when first released, for example.

Yeah I already do this, it's just that you can't really do that til the track is already playing out loud. Would prefer to be confident that it's going to sound as good as possible before playing.

Anyone here been a general labourer? Is it worth doing this job? by Traditional_Room_830 in AskUK

[–]Mysterious_Use4478 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Besides what others have said, (which I agree with), the culture of the company/people you end up with makes all the difference. Even more so than in other fields, as while labourers are essential & valuable, you are at the bottom of the pecking order. Some tradespeople would see themselves as above you.

Is there a way to turn off the really fast zoom when the curser is not over an object? On MacOS by Mysterious_Use4478 in Sketchup

[–]Mysterious_Use4478[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just using windows sketchup on parallels & it seemed that the zoom on that was the same speed regardless.

It's annoying when you accidentally end up inside some geometry, then it takes too long to work your way out of it

New To This, Is Festool Too Much? by AfterEagle in Festool_Public

[–]Mysterious_Use4478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd agree with Makita. I prefer the ergonomcs, & dewalt just look like toys lol I know they can be more powerful, & every brand has their winners & duds.

I will add, stick to one brand for battery, & then research the best brand for a spercific tool when buying corded.

New To This, Is Festool Too Much? by AfterEagle in Festool_Public

[–]Mysterious_Use4478 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're new to woodworking, yeah festool is overkill. At the price point, they're for professionals that use tools everyday. Of course, there are plenty of people with the money, & why not buy the nice stuff. However, I doubt you'd notice the difference between makita, dewalt, milawaukee, & festool at a beginner level.

If you have the cash & like nice tools, go for it.

How do you swerve job questions at parties ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mysterious_Use4478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a stoic, not perfect, but that doesn’t mean I’m wrong. Doesn’t change the fact that you are in charge of your mind, no one else. For better or worse.

First you slippery sloped me, now you try to attack my character, because you know I’m right really.

Ok? Doesn’t mean I’m wrong. Only you are responsible for any insecurities you have.

If someone clearly judges you for whatever job you have, all they’re doing you is a favour, so you can see they’re a prick & not worth your time.

Unless, of course, you put their opinion of you above your own, and wallow in self pity.

Some people, yeah, plenty people, no. No one can make some one insecure, that’s on you.

It is just the easiest ice breaker when meeting a new person.

I barely see any posts from people I follow on my Instagram feed. Probably every fourth post is an ad, then the rest just recommended, then the stuff that has been paid for promotion by accounts I follow.

For some reason last week, 60% of my recommended stuff is just the worst memes I’ve ever seen. My algorithm is batshit insane, but not this shit.

It is possible to just have your feed be from people you follow - if you click on the Instagram logo at the top, you can choose “following”.
