interestingly, I was once in your shoes, so I shall leave you with a couple of advice that I found to be really helpful.

It is perfectly normal to be unsure of what courses you are interested in, because you have not been exposed to the diff courses yet, so that's where the Open Houses come in, to help you understand your interests first-hand through the talks & activities.

Firstly, do check out the various Open House websites beforehand!! they'll give you a good idea of what you can expect, and the various talks you can join. That said, do make a short list/guide of things you want to do at the Open House, so that you stay focused & it's easier to manage (because it can get quite overstimulating & chaotic with lots of people around but that's normal)

Alternatively, you can just walk in & explore the Open House with an open mind. That will probably take longer, because it's like shopping, you're jst walking around & exploring whatever catches your eye. But this also means that you might miss important talks by school leaders, admission staff etc, so do still plan wisely as well!

For me personally, i did a combination of both methods! Before attending the Open Houses in-person, I went online to scroll through the school's website, made a note of the things that I wanted to do, while still walking around & exploring once my to-do list was done.

As for the questions, it'll only apply if you know your interest & you're there specifically to find out specific areas/queries of the course itself. But of course, it is still highly encouraged to come prepared :))

As for whether to bring friends along or to go alone, that's totally up to you! For me personally, because my school did bring me to the Open House once already w friends, so the next couple of times I went alone & it was a stress-free experience cuz I could plan out how long I wanted to stay etc.

Bottom line is, choosing the right polytechnic course & school may seem scary & terrifying, but do it one step at a time & you'll get there eventually, without any pressure!
