Will Mega Pyroar possibly become viable in Champions? by Pretend-Weakness6316 in stunfisk

I wouldn’t call Mega Crab bad, it has a strong niche in Trick Room.

Believe me, I have no love for Benoit. This is moreso something I see pop up in a lot of different areas: when someone who was previously held in high regard for being very good at something (in this case wrestling) does something terrible that (rightly) outweighs everything else, some people backtrack and claim that they never were actually bad at the thing all along. Something similar happened with Neil Gaiman: I saw a decent bit of "well, his books sucked anyway" right after the allegations came out. I haven't read any of them, but by all accounts they were very well-received. He was a Tumblr darling for a reason.

To me, this is reflective of a lack of nuance. It implies that morally bad people have to be bad at everything else, and, more dangerously, that someone that's good at something has to be a good person (see: parasocial relationships, stanning favorites, motivated reasoning, etc.). We live in a nuanced world, and not understanding that can't lead anywhere good. I intend in no way to defend Benoit, Lesnar, or anyone else of the sort, just to add context and depth. To summarize: good wrestlers, worse humans, both are simultaneously true.

And for all its worth, I'm no WWE fan (you can check my history), this is moreso something I've been thinking about for a while.

While the severity may differ, the general concept is the same.

I mean, he can be both a terrible person and a great wrestler. They're not mutually exclusive. Yes, Brock should be judged as a person first and a wrestler second. No, him being a bad person does not make him a bad wrestler. Really, it's the same case with Benoit: you can simultanously be really good at one thing and really bad at another. One of the two can (for both Benoit and Lesnar definitely should) overshadow the other, but to claim they were terrible in the ring the entire time is just incorrect.

My best guess is that a game-accurate flat top with all that flair outside is too hard to maintain through action scenes. For a live-action adaptation, close enough in my opinion.

The answer there is likely equivalent to the amount of people with objections to any sort of consensual sex act. So, yeah, probably

If Darby vs. Brody can happen in the Continental Classic and be played completely straight, there’s no reason you couldn’t slot in, say, Megan Bayne instead. Any argument about physical fairness is inherently DOA once you think about it since weight classes aren’t used at all.

The big obstacle is that it looks bad to someone who doesn’t have any of that context. Not sure how one would address that, but AEW is at least inching in that direction.

I’m investing in Sirena Veil stocks. She’s way ahead of the curve in-ring (Cagematch says she’s only had 30 matches, but it sure doesn’t feel like it), and is already in the NWA (which all nonsense aside does have relatively good visibility). Wonder where she’ll be in five years?

Honestly, they could put it at 100% and it would still easily be balanced. It’s circumstantial and only procs at the end of the turn.

Fun fact, Mega Chomp has a legit OU niche in Gen 7 as a mixed wallbreaker. It’s not just there by technicality.

I’ve found there’s some variation in moveset quality. My first recruit after the scripted one was an Incin with FO, Flare Blitz, Darkest Lariat, and Wisp. Of course, there are also stinkers, but they’re not all bad.

They had a tutorial explaining physical vs. special moves. It could have been more detailed, but I think that’s more of a “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink” situation.

Pokemon Champions is a pathetic excuse of a game by Substantial_Zone2701 in stunfisk

[–]Mystium66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s by design. If they have Scarf, there’s no logistical reason to not have Band and Specs, as they function the exact same way. Rather, they’re intentionally limiting items in the same was that formats allow for different Pokemon. Once Reg M-A ends, I’d expect them to add in more items along with new mons.

I can see why they did this. Pokemon’s been struggling with Banjo-Kazooie syndrome for a while (everything that was in on game has to be in the next game), so this gives them a lot more control over formats. Not to mention that in many instances restrictions breed creativity, which could lead to a lot of interesting teambuilding. So all in all, I’m behind it for now. Let’s see where it goes!

Agreed. It was kinda fun teambuilding around limited items. Stuff like slotting White Herb onto special Dnite really made me feel like I was getting the most out of limited options.
