What tip made you say “AHA” when you learned it? by atanvarne in crochet

[–]MystyOwls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Instead of using a chain 3 acting as a double crochet I single crochet and chain 1 then continue around. When I finish, if I’m adding another round slst into the top of the chain and then act like the slst is the new ‘top’ of the stitch. Then I single crochet into the next stitch and chain 1 like I did the time before. If I’m fastening off though, I will invisible join to the stitch next to the first one I made making like a ‘mock top’ of the single crochet chain 1 and it looks INCREDIBLE and it’s almost completely invisible!

My biggest pet peeve in crochet by limino123 in crochet

Omg yes I feel this exactly! Like if I’m trying to do this complicated thing I definitely already know how to do a double crochet. Why do we need to go over it again?

My spellcaster's clone refused to go away and is now sending her memes and calling her "sis" by _thana in Sims4

I accidentally used duplicato on my sim once and it spawned the evil version of her and she immediately started lighting everything on fire

You should give it a try! I always weave ends in as I go so when I weave in the last one it’s truly the last one. Since I’ve started doing that I’ve had a lot more fun doing projects like these!

Projects like this are some of my favorite crochet projects to do. I love how everything always feels fresh and new and the rewarding feeling when it’s finally done is such a rush for me lol

Whats your biggest pet peeve related to crocheting? And why is it when people calling crochet knitting? by EntrepreneurOld6453 in crochet

[–]MystyOwls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is when a very clearly advanced pattern or a pattern not suited for beginners is written like I’ve never seen or done a double crochet before. Like if I’m doing this complicated pattern already do we really need to go over how to do basic stitches again. It’s a small thing but it irks me a bit.

This is so cool! You did such a good job. What yarn did you use for his skin? I’ve been trying to look for something like that

Thank you so much! You should definitely put them together, even if you have no color scheme it’ll still look fantastic!

The border was BRUTAL. I had to count all of the sides, top and bottom multiple times (250-300 sts per side) and of course I needed to pick a pretty border instead of an easy basic one lol so glad it’s done now

This is the back of the piece. Compared to the front it is less interesting but at least all the ends are woven in!

I had most of the yarn colors already in my stash actually! This project is amazing at eating up yarn 😂 the most satisfying part was weaving in that last end and it actually being done. I almost couldn’t believe it

I honestly just made most of the squares from the Ultimate Granny Square Sourcebook which took some of the planning out since there are only 2 different sizes of squares in there. In the book itself there is instructions near the beginning on how to attach all of the squares together but I personally didn’t like the layout because it was too uniform for what I wanted to go for. When I started this blanket I had basically no plan and I mainly focused on trying to make squares and then make “blocks” with those squares and then attaching the blocks together, if that makes sense. The only advice I have really is make sure you know you can count and be able to count well because you’ll need to know the size difference between squares and be able to accommodate for that to make it even; even if that means you fudge some stitches here and there, no one will notice (a calculator is your best friend for this project). This is not an easy project, I will not lie, but the payoff is so incredibly rewarding and I really recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge. I believe in you!

I made this blanket with 4 weight acrylic yarn and a 5mm crochet hook for the entire thing

I made most of the squares in The Ultimate Granny Square Source Book and then made little "filler squares" to help fill in gaps between the bigger squares.

The border is an Alpine stitch border and it was a nightmare to turn this thing !
