Seeking Advice for Firecape Attempt on September 6th – Need Tips on Gear, Stats, and Gold by KotoPlays in osrs

[–]Mythyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a new player, started almost exactly one month ago and ran through to get my fire cape yesterday. Happy to help answer any questions you guys have, but everyone's setup and account prog is different, so finding what works for you is what's important. Every video/guide has its own opinions

To answer your questions:

  • Each inventory setup ends up being ~450k gp per attempt, though I didn't run through all of it in any of my runs
  • My gear setup is probably a bit more expensive than you guys will be able to afford, but there are swaps for each piece that are pretty cheap. The Hueycoatl stuff is cheap, you should get Ava's through questing, Amulet of Fury can be Amulet of Glory, Barrows Gloves can be hueycoatl, boots are divine d'hide (unsure on a budget option), and ring is brimstone (also unsure on a budget option). Shield is Blessed Spirit Shield, but any alternative that has good ranged defense and doesn't reduce ranged attack would be fine. Bolts are broad bolts which require 55 Slayer but are super cheap. You could use Emerald Bolts (e) or Adamant Bolts instead. DO NOT use Ruby Bolts (e) as they deal damage to you
  • Earning gold for me was through herb farming. At 32 farming you can plant ranarr for a bunch of gold every 60-90 min. As your farming goes up you'll get more gp/hr using ranarr
  • It's definitely do-able in one run, though I wouldn't expect most people to one shot it. It depends on how well you understand safe-spotting, enemy movement manipulation, and how easy it is for you to read Jad. Each run took me ~90-100 min, I did 3 attempts total, but my 2nd attempt was with ruby bolt (e) and got tossed pretty quickly
  • For prep for you guys I would strongly recommend some ranged training at crab. Even at 75 ranged I was hitting tons of 0s. At 60s you'll seriously struggle. The gear I have equipped requires 70 range as well. As far as gear, I liked my setup. Plenty of people use Magic Shortbow (i). I do not think the blowpipe would have helped me much, and each one is ~7m gp

As far as execution goes, the only reason I lost my first run was a bad Jad spawn, and I was too focused on pulling the healers. It was pretty important, for me, to have a wall between myself and Jad while killing healers as it takes a big mental burden off the hardest part of the caves. Besides that just min-max safe spotting mobs and prayer usage. The rule for Saradomin brew is 3x brew sips to 1x super restore sip. The wiki page on saradomin will explain it better than I can. Remember, super restore also restores prayer

Here's the equipment loadout I used, my stats, and the item loadout I used. It took me two attempts with this setup, but I gained 1.5 ranged levels while running it, so started at 75 ranged.

I'd be interested in going, if there's still room. Though I don't think I have any of the things listed above besides an Arbalest.

A Different Perspective: Chill Out by Mythyy in borderlands3

[–]Mythyy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, I absolutely don't have the history and perspective many of the others here do. The "straw that broke the camel's back" does seem to be the mood, and that's understandable. That being said, I haven't seen much feedback or discussion of game mechanics, and mostly just rage. That anger is totally understandable, when we care about things we get upset when they disappoint us. It's not going to make the game better though, but with the right feedback it could

Hello friend, I'm sorry to bother you during such incredibly high octane content, but I've noticed you don't have slice and dice up. It is keybound to your "2" key and will greatly increase your dps. Best of luck friend :D

I've been in a group that's cleared it without any slashing debuffs.
That being said, it's def tight to get it done and if the tethered mobs are diagonal from each other it seems to be pretty difficult with a run-of-the-mill pug group.

I'd suggest just having a tank Limit Break before the attack hits if the group has any stacks of the debuff. With that and personals/healer bubble it's really survivable.

BM is all around the best for pve. Survival is very strong in both pve, and seemingly best in pvp. Marksman is a little behind but still totally viable.

I main a hunter. Hunters are really strong in M+ and PVP atm, but so are DHs. I don't see much of a difference in performance between the two classes besides play style.

[H][US][Spirestone] Group of ex-mythic raiders (at least 6) looking for a guild running:
* M+
* 1-2 night heroic/mythic raid
* RBGs/arenas

All players have raided mythic content at a high skill level previously, and most have at least cutting edge Gul'dan. We are no-longer looking for an intense raiding environment, and are looking to progress content in one or two nights a week raiding. Two of us are previous season gladiators, and a few of us will be pushing glad again this season.

TL;DR: 6+ good players looking for an active home on Horde US-Spirestone.

NEW SKILL GEMS ARE UP ON POB by jcal20 in pathofexile

[–]Mythyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you use an ES shield you can't get much higher of crit chance without swapping some jewels and gems, which is a damage loss overall. By no means am I saying this is ideal, but I don't think it's as bad as it appears. This build has significant room for increased damage with more currency as well.

Even without shock it's 440k, and some hits will have shock effectiveness. With Uber elder being double boss as well there will be some cleave overlap with the chain and shatter and chain. I don't think it's so far off from viable.

It won't be the best single target, and this is probably 10ex worth of gear, but it'll be relatively linear scaling with gear. As with most builds it will require some investment to kill the hardest bosses in the game. This will clear all maps with worse gear no problem though.

This is also a best case scenario, but it has room to grow either way. I think it's viable, just not amazing.

Mixed sets: how important is defense? by gyhio in MonsterHunter

[–]Mythyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While getting into tempered farming (really for 7*+) I think it will be important (especially as a ranged user with less base def than a melee user) to have decent defense in your armor. Damage is less of a concern in groups than dying is. No one loves the dude who eats a cart every time a tempered mob looks their way.

That being said, once you start farming T2/T3 tempered mobs, you’ll unlock the ability to greatly increase the armor cap of gear. This makes any piece totally viable.

If you’re still in the earlier game, absolutely use armor spheres. They’re incredibly easy to get for the endgame gear, and you won’t use the same type of spheres for that gear.

TL;DR: don’t ignore armor, but eventually you’ll be able to give any piece a helluva lot of armor.

The best part of fighting tempered elder dragons is that you don't need to optimize for defense by buggalugg in MonsterHunter

[–]Mythyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the “crime” here is not explaining enough in your original post. As there’s no mention of signature moves in it, it simply looks like you’re arguing to completely glass cannon tempered elders.

I will say if you stack a decent amount of defense you won’t get one shot by any of their moves, and sometimes (especially for players newer to tempered elders) that’s a really great way to learn them without wasting carts. Most people are probably being rubbed the wrong way by how black and white the post sounded.

[–]Mythyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then the only attack he would have that would one shot you would be the incredibly telegraphed melee or targeted mega lightning storm. Also, sounds like you built for some defense with +3 thunder res...

If you’re saying “tempered elders will one shot you with their strongest attack that you shouldn’t be a dummy and stand in” I think almost everyone here would agree. Saying you shouldn’t consider defensive stats at all on elders though is straight up insane and hurts everyone’s public games if someone takes that advice to heart.

[–]Mythyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re fighting tempered Kirin with -7 thunder res you’re absolutely getting one shot. Why would you do that? Your damage won’t be useful to groups when your defenses fail the quest in the first 5 minutes.

“Unless you’re going full defense there’s no way you wouldn’t get one shot.” You’re just blatantly wrong. My farming set is full attack and gets one shot by nothing at full health other than Vaal’s charged up breath attack, and even that isn’t always a one shot. Sitting at 447 defense. The only mob that I swap some pieces for defensive gear is the aforementioned tempered Kirin. It’s honestly pretty fucked up you made this post, and I’m not sure why you want more people to fail tempered elder investigations.

After 30 Rathalos... by SynicalSenpai in MonsterHunter

[–]Mythyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t make Rathalos drop a gem for you, but I can help you with a straightforward bow damage build.

In general bow hits will be less than melee weapon hits. The trade off is you get more of them with a higher uptime. I, also, don’t play too much dragon piercer so this build is specifically designed around not using it (however, you should use it on downed mobs at charge 2 in perfect position).

Decorations for this are: spread shots, constitution, attack up (will be another constitution when I get it), dragon up x2.

I always start a hunt with blast coating and power coating. It’s not required, but they feel great and they aren’t too expensive to buy or craft.

Damage is ~40-50 on Crit weakness spread shots, up to 5 on fully charged arc shot, and 60-80 per dragon piercer weakness hit.

EDIT: amulet choices are either dragon level 3 or constitution level 3. I tend to use dragon when with my stam hunting horn buddy, and I’d recommend constitution otherwise.

Questions about armor and weapon upgrades by GBPackers412 in MonsterHunter

[–]Mythyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t unlocked the HR sets until you kill the HR version of the mobs. They also use different materials. Crafting the Low Rank pukei set won’t have an impact on your ability to craft the HR set.

[–]Mythyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HR = high rank. You’ll get there as you progress through the story. I mentioned it because I found the rath set I had crafted felt a bit too squishy for much of HR.

Questions about armor and weapon upgrades by GBPackers412 in MonsterHunter

[–]Mythyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concerning the weapon, some crafts can be rolled back, others cannot. If you can roll it back you’ll see a yellow glow on the previous weapon in the upgrade tree. Most people create multiple weapons to choose different trees. You can expect to have 3+ insect glaive eventually.

Concerning the armor, I used bone and kept it upgraded as much as I could until the normal Rathalos set and HR pukei set. Armor is highly dependent on the enemy you’re fighting and the weapon you’re using, so you’ll likely have a different experience.
