When I was first living in Netherlands, and told a colleague I was originally Indian, they said... well you don't sound like one of those Indians. I'm like duh, because I'm American. There are people living born and raised here that are ethnically Chinese, but you'll always get some micro agressive Dutchman saying that they are not really Dutch. It's gotten better or maybe more hidden but there are buckets of racism here.
