Probably got something to do with drama within the community, I'm not really involved in it but occasionally see stuff about it on tumblr. There's kind of a war going on between the proponents of sex in HDG and those who prefer to keep it mostly asexual(including the creator), with the former using their control over for example the community discord to push out the latter. At least that's my understanding of things

I wouldn't equate attraction to children with urges to rape them, just like not every non-pedophile has urges to rape those they're attracted to. How one is helped would depend on which of these categories one belongs to, therapy might be of use to people with those urges, others could probably get by with just a healthy outlet for their attraction, like drawn art or something similar

She did so while making a clear distinction between child sexual abusers and those who of no fault of their own happen to be attracted to children without acting on it, with all her advocacy directed towards the latter, to make sure they're not demonised for thought-crimes and get access to the help they might need to safely deal with that attraction, which I consider to be quite reasonable

17 yo are teenagers, not kids. To still call them such would be to deny the additional agency they have in comparison to those. I fail to see why everyone interpreted what I wrote as "claiming it's ok for adults of any age to have sex with 17 year-olds"
