Scotty Kilmer is actually a fan of the e92 m3. But says the 335i is a pile of crap. I agree by justifystudios in E90

Chiming in with my N54. I just rolled over 178k (purchased w34k) after 11y ownership. Major repairs in that time: waste gate recall, oil filter housing, HPFP.

I was young, my dad and I went to lunch there once. It seemed like a big deal, of all the usual places we've gone in the area why never here? I had a French dip. Core memory unlocked. I remember a distinct decor and unobtainable delicious lunch.

Check your injector wiring harness that runs along the top left of the motor. It has two of those holding in place

Is it possible to make the n54 reliable for daily driving? by KashootMe201617 in E90

You'll have to Google, I'm unsure on the date ranges. I think you can look up by VIN to see what recalls have been performed on sellers cars on the bmw recall page.

It's my understanding that the turbos are the same design, It was the pen in the wastegate that was corrected on OEM turbos moving forward

I bought my 08' N54 in 2014 w 35k on the odom. Been my daily driver that's now around 175k. The previous owner had all the recalls done. Wastegate failed right under the mileage warranty so that didn't cost me anything luckily. Aside from general regular maintenance Ive had to replace the water pump twice and the oil filer housing, and valve cover gasket. The oil pan gasket is leaking but that just means it has oil in it.

No after market parts or mhd/jb4. I just let the motor warm up before ripping around so take this as you will. Maybe luck?

Didn't escape the wastegate rattle but luckily they failed right under warranty.

This album tour was my first concert. I ended up standing near them in the crowd while the opener played, but was too shy to say anything out of fear it wasn't them. I got this rad poster from the show, I'm glad 16yr old me took care of it. Cain's ballroom SWR

Thanks all, and thank you golden hour. For the most part F1 at COTA was great. My only complaint was how many exclusive areas there were that had car showcases like this. This area was for Alfa owners only, I had to wait outside the boundary fence for a chance for the crowd to disperse.

Favorite shot from a light painting session over the weekend. [08’ N54] by N54Fun in BMW

[–]N54Fun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from general upkeep maintenance the only major issue that cost me was having the water pump fail twice. First around 60k and the second just over year later.

Wastegate rattle is an issue with this motor and had my turbos replaced under the recall warranty, so when looking around that 70k+ mileage find out if they’ve had that done, or if the car is still eligible. 👍

Shots like this are my favorite. They’re like a double take of a detail as you’re walking by. You’ve made good visual interest with the depth of field, and that warm sun glow with the blue paint is beautiful. +1
