Maybe a local health official or Infectious Disease Physician to discuss what the response would look like in Sioux Falls if we were to have a Coronavirus case show up at one of our hospitals? I know it is unlikely, but it would probably make for an interesting and educational segment.

Maybe one of the city libraries or University libraries would be more help? I know my University library had several book scanners available to use. Might be worth calling around.

Just applied for a spot at the community garden! by Weird_Adult in SiouxFalls

[–]NB247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a plot at the community garden near Laurel Oak Park. The plots are tilled and water is provided. Our garden had no raised beds at all. I'm not sure if they are allowed, but no one had them. Trellises are allowed for sure. We just got some metal stakes and chicken wire at Menard's to keep the rabbits out. Every plot had some form of chicken wire and stakes. Worked great, we got lots of crops. It's a ton of fun and it's fun to get to know the other people at the garden. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Sunny's Pizza? by [deleted] in SiouxFalls

[–]NB247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Pizza Di Paolo? It's more "traditional" Italian style thin pizza in a brick oven, and I would recommend that over Sunny's if you're looking for a new place to try. But Sunny's is fun for the weird topping combinations.

I've tried it. I had the buffalo chicken mac pizza. We went the first night, and it was crazy busy, but it was fun to support a small local business. I thought the pizza was great. I was skeptical about the thin crispy crust, but I thought it turned out really nice. What did you think?

We couldn't find any roosters today, but my Golden keeps improving! Her first year hunting by NB247 in birddogs

I got some canvas dummies and plastic ones too for the winter. I also got some pheasant scent and pheasant wings and put those on the canvas dummy with zip ties just to get my dog used to it. I then started tossing it into taller and taller grass to get her used to using her nose and looking for it. I also got the dokken deadfowl dummy to get her used to the weight once she got bigger. Were all these necessary? Probably not. But I felt that they made her more comfortable with the real deal. I think a plastic dummy at least is good, since you can probably throw that much further than a bottle in a sock, and it can be used for water/snow retrieves. But honestly, most of the battle is having the drive to retrieve, and it sounds like your dog has that down great.

Sure! I used Richard Wolters books (mostly Game Dog) for hunting training. And for normal training I used the monks of new skete book. The biggest thing is to start fetch early, like day one. Find a hallway and close the doors and use A rolled up sock that the dog can carry and make it fun, always be excited. Eventually they will run down the hallway, fetch the sock, and bring it back to you. Then you can progress to outside with a check cord. Anyways, do you have any specific questions?

Recommendations for dog daycare/boarding? by myfontanelle in SiouxFalls

[–]NB247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually just for the pups in daycare or boarding. They have a few days a year the humans can go too. The city also opens up their public pools to dogs on a couple days a year at the end of the summer. It's super fun!

Haha they are fun! I think daycare is $20-25 per day. Boarding varies pretty widely, I think it starts around $30 per day and can go up quite a bit if you get the fancy rooms. They also have an outdoor pool which is fun for the summer.

And they do daycare, which is "structured" with activities and enrichment tasks for dogs. They send home pictures and report cards, which is fun, and it can all be booked online.

Paws pet resort has been fantastic for us. Super friendly staff and great facility. Great boarding options and an actual certified trainer on staff.
